Well.... They got caught in a corner....

They don't want to make Vecna look weak. They didn't want to kill Nancy and not give Vecna another L. It's pretty simple.... They had to make a convulted way to make it out without doing those thing. So, he told Nancy to bring Eleven.... Which doesn't even make the slightest sense. 99% won't even notice it. Also... she wasn't the final victim. It was always max
It's a corner they wrote themselves into

Best season so far, episode 4 was the best episode, episode 7 was too long but cool twist at the end.

Old heads from the 80s, did yall really listen to the same song over and over in the 80s on an cassette tape? Every time that Kate Bush song came on I was thinking to myself doesn't Max get tired of listening to that song? :dahell:

Just be thankful you didn't have to go through the process of operating on a tape once it snapped from rewinding too much

The poster earlier who said that they basically turned the main Villain into a high school shooter with telekinesis was absolutely correct. Up until season 4 the main villain was supposed to be some ancient eldritch horror from another dimension and then they suddenly flipped it all around without any kind of warning or build up.

The fact that stranger things was supposed to be a one season thing that was stretched out due to popularity is showing.

This show is GOATED :yeshrug:
Max has had a ROUGH life goddamn:picard:
Eddie is a real one:salute:
Will was acting his ass off in that van scene
It's funny how people who don't watch this show think it's Ready Player One with the references, when they are super subtle about it in reality. The scene with the Demogorgons in test tubes reminded me of Ripley looking at the Xenomorph experiments (wasn't Winona in that movie too?) and Vecna was doing a lot of Pennywise shyt.
There was a subtle reference to Aliens too with one of the soldiers being named Hicks.

That's not wrong exactly, but I think they've done about a good a job of stretching this thing as can be expected. There are maybe a few things I'd do different, but season 4 is definitely the most cinematic of the series, the stakes felt higher, and I like that there's an anthropomorphic villain and not just a dust cloud. The Mind Flayer was dope for one season, but I like a humanoid looking villain...even if I agree with you that it'd be doper if it was some Lovecraftian being and not just a person.

Exactly…

However one thing that I would complain about this season is that Vecna TALKS too much. Dude would have your whole body pinned against the wall and say “Before I kill you, let me tell you the story on how I became who I am. In this essay…”

And proceed to talk for 10-15 min…
Definitely my biggest gripe with this season is Vecna's exposition.

Why’d they make him gay? He wasn’t gay last season. I thought he liked eleven. :manny:
They've hinted at Will being gay since season 1. Other kids were calling him "queer" in season 1, and in season 2 Mike was like, "It's not my fault you don't like girls."

Some other shyt too, but those come to mind.

Max was amazing, but Lucas deserves his flowers too. Taking that glass vase to the head was one of the most brutal things in the finale. The trauma he went through in that whole sequence was wild. My guy was held at gunpoint, had one of the nastiest fights on the show, and witnessed his girl’s limbs snap backwards in front of his very eyes. :picard:

And despite all of that, he was still in the hospital watching over Max. :wow:

I think it's dope that the upside down didn't seem like a fukked up place at all. Just kind of a different dimension. Demogorgans (sp?) running around freely, and the atmosphere didn't look as red and menacing, and the particles that made up the mind flayer just looked kind of neutral up in the sky. Vecna talked all this shyt about how it was "untouched/undisturbed by mankind" and then he went and did exactly that, and fukked with the beings in the upside down as well. It didn't even look like Hawkins. It looks like he perverted it and made it that way.

Reading some of the criticisms, I think it's kind of silly to nitpick some of the plot holes in a show like this... The show is intended to be a 80s nostalgia sci-fi/horror genre with over the top 80s cliches baked in. Don't you think it's kind of stupid to nitpick why Veccna let Nancy go but ignore the fact a 50 year old stay at home mom, a conspiracy theorist and a cop were able to infiltrate a gulag, fight off monsters and then fly from Russia to US in a stolen helicopter? It's just dumb and you're sabotaging your own ability to like the show because you're treating this purposely campy show the same as a more seriously taken show... Just sit back and enjoy, turn off your analytical "realism-seeking" part of your brain and enjoy it for what it is, it's supposed to be a fun 80s love letter
