No Whammies!!
So, this episode, I think I figured something out about how Dave Filoni views the Clones. It seems that, in his view, the average close is actually less "evil" than the average recruited stormtrooper. These clones generally only attack civilians because they're programmed to do so. When Howser gave his "Who's coming with me?" speech, a bunch of other random "reg" clones actually raised their hands. As time passes from Order 66, it looks like the effects of the brain chips might be fading. But the recruited non-clone stormtroopers are volunteers, who knew what they were getting into when they signed up.

I have a feeling this is a little bit of a change from what Lucas originally intended. I think the whole "brain chip" thing might be Filoni's invention. I've never been deep into the Expanded Universe, but I seem to remember hearing that in the old EU the clones carried out Order 66 because they were ordered to do so, not because of a brain chip.

I'm not mat at programming for clones
I wouldn't clone a whole army and not have a back up plan

Or, it's possible that some chips were defective too.

don't get me wrong, I am enjoying the show,,,, but the entire series/story is just side missions and crosshair

The 1985 "Droids" cartoon comes up in the Disney+ recommendations when I watch this. For nostalgia purposes I watched the first two episodes, and I was surprised to see that show seems to have a lot in common with this one. Its basically the same corner of of the Star Wars universe, in a slightly earlier timeline but still in between Episodes 3 and 4. Even the same plotline about a young "gangster" antagonist trying to impress their kingpin parents.
Bad Batch is basically the "Clone Wars" era version of "Droids" meets "The Mandalorian" structure (go on mercenary missions for money while protecting a child being hunted by bad guys who want to clone its "special" genetic code.

I am enjoying it, but I recognize it for what it is

I also thought of something else while watching the latest episode. A fun way to watch Star Wars is to mentally replace the word "Spice" with the word "Cocaine" every time someone says it. The you realize that Han Solo and a lot of other people affiliated with the Rebel Alliance are the space opera equivalent to the smugglers from "Cocaine Cowboys".

:pachaha: I see you breh,,,,, the word spice reminds me DUNE (1984) ,,,,,, you right :ehh:

from Dune 1984

In the far future, the known universe is ruled by Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV. The most valuable substance in the empire is the drug melange or "spice", which extends life and expands consciousness. The spice also allows the Spacing Guild to fold space, permitting safe, instantaneous interstellar travel.

Yeah, its kind of like a "Saturday morning cartoon" in the binge watching era.
Though, if I were 12 years old I would really appreciate that.
I wish they would do the era after the sequel trilogy or just before

An anthology series but based on the resistance

I'm sure that's what Lucas was originally thinking (e.g. Anakin has a lot in common with Paul, Tattooine is kind of like Arrakis, etc.)

But in the latest Bad Batch episode, they had the spice bundled up in bricks that looked like kilos of cocaine, so the real world comparison was also pretty obvious.
