What 'Spider-Man's Awful 73% Friday-to-Friday Plummet Means For Sony, Marvel, And Superhero Films
The film was extremely well reviewed with a 93 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating, and well attended, with a $117 million domestic gross, the best 3-day opening for a Spidey flick since Spider-Man 3’s stunning $151 million debut a decade ago.
But things quickly turned sour for the Sony-Marvel co-pro yesterday when the grosses fell off a cliff, tumbling 73.2 percent from the first Friday’s $50.8 million tally to an estimated $13.6 million on the second. That’s one of the worst Friday-to-Friday drops the 16-movie Marvel Cinematic Universe has ever seen—only Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War fared worse—and it's by far the worst for any of Sony’s 6 Spider-Man movies. Even the heavily front-loaded and relatively poorly reviewed Spider-Man 3 fell by a lesser margin on its second Friday.
This. As long as super hero movies continue to sell regardless of studio we all win and the genre wins. I'm going to continue toIt's not a flop, these months are just loaded and WW is exceeding expectations.
Sony/Marvel might not have counted on Gal Gadot having such great legs, but they must've known Apes/Cars would also eat.

"In the end, Spider-Man: Homecoming was the Steve Jobs of superhero reboots. Like The Incredible Hulk, Marvel made a seemingly more commercial and acclaimed package but still got a relatively similar result."
@MartyMcFly My man James Howlett didn't have 61% drop :selena:
The difference between this and logan,or fox and marvel as it were. She doesn't have any friends, according to her earlier in the movie.
Oh yeah, regarding the Spider-sense debate, I think Feige's excuse was weak but I don't think you can complain about it here when all the Spidey movies before this have moments where it is completely ignored. Just saying, this is nothing new.
Also, if you want to criticize the movie for that, you better stop praising Logan immediately for continuing that bullshyt about how an adamantium bullet can pierce indestructible adamantium coated bone and kill someone with healing powers.
