It seem like the homemade suit we be the suit Peter make for the final battle (with vulture) after he get tired of stark controlling and his manipulative behaviour. Peter most likely ditch stark(his spider suit) to complete the transition of independency (from Tony stark)

I think my feelings on the suit are combined with my feelings on that arc in general and how awful it was so I like the suit less. I get the symbolism behind it but what truly made it awful is all of it was retconned lol. They could've gone interesting ways with it. But also I have an issue with peter being a grown ass man and being THAT indebted to Tony. I get Tony gave him a place to stay and a job and he had a loyalty to him but peter has always been his own man and he kept letting Tony step over line after line after line smh
