I watched Spider-Man again not too long ago. Tobey probably gets treated a bit unfairly. The movie was still good. Even Dunst was good. Willem Dafoe was great. The Macho Man appearance
It's a good movie. The second one is great. Part 3 killed them.
They should have just let Sam Raimi stick with his original plan.
Watching his first 2 Spidey films you can see that he was slowly building up to Curt Connors turning into The Lizard.
The studio wanted him to get Venom in the 3rd movie and it messed up his plans. You can clearly tell Raimi didn't want to do that. When you see the skinny dude from That 70's Show was cast as Eddie Brock you know he didn't care.
Venom wasn't even supposed to be in Spider man 3. It was supposed to be mostly about developing Harry Osbourn into the second Green Goblin with Sandman sprinkled in(no pun).
Raimi always stuck with 1 villain for his movies and gave them good development. Studio meddling fukked up Spiderman 3 but it's messed up because people put the blame on Sam Raimi and his hands were tied.
