This is a Sony film. I heard that Sony actually pushed for this movie to come out this year after Endgame, so if Feige had it his way, this movie would have came out much later, avoiding the Spidey comes back to life "spoiler"

The captain marvel hate is crazy. How could u even tell a proper rogue story without her? That's just the question for those who keep bringing up rogue being a better marvel female lead. But anyways this spiderman movie looks dope. I never liked Tom Holland honestly just based off statue (ol mini spiderman ass nikka) but even he has grown on me with repeated watches of homecoming (my sons fave.). Sony really did finesse marvel with the whole MCU spiderman deal. You get the MCU fan base without having to follow orders from fiege or disney. Im sure fiege still has sonys ear on a lot of things but this was exactly what Sony needed after the whole amazing spider man 2 failure. For this one tho I'm agreeing with dude that said mysterio is just using those elementals to look like a here and spider man will have to stop mysterio by the end of the movie. Also heard a rumor that the timeline of this movie could be before infinity war and right after homecoming.

Does it spoil Avengers 4? Maybe. But it spoils it no more than infinity war snap not meaning as much knowing actors signed multiple movie contracts prior to the movie dropping.
Spider Man is the future. The only characters bowing out from being main characters are the OG Avengers like Stark and Steve Rogers.

Tbh, Sue Richards is often just wallpaper or the objectified trophy in the Reed/Doom/Namor beef. Stay at home milf who gets sad Reed ignores her but doesn't have anything better to do anyway.
Jean Grey is a borderline McGuffin whose sole purpose often regressed to 3 things: threaten all existence, get cyclops/Wolverine in their feelings, die.
Storm is just wallpaper, and only known for two things: winning some popularity contest 25 yrs ago, and marrying T'Challa.
Point is, the comics have always gone through ups and major downs when it comes to female character treatment/depiction... which is why Sue, Jean, and Storm are known but had shyt solo sales, like Carol. Their popularity is more from the collective team brand imo, amplified by TV and video game perks.
Which is why Carol has a fair chance of being the most popular female character at Marvel once it's all said and done with. The general public doesnt really care what the neckbeards think, and Carol has the biggest platform now, w/o any of the wallpaper bs.

It being set in the 90s and the 90s vibe it gives off has it feeling dated.
Not to mention as I said in another thread, it's hard to follow up Infinity War. They set the standard. Most people dont even know or care about Ant Man 2 because it came right after Infinity War. People are hype for Spider Man 2 because he was in Infinity War.
Thor 3, changed the game and made up for the first 2 thor movies. Black Panther was historic. Infinity War was 10 years in the making. Ant Man 2 was am afterthought as a result and now you have an unknown female super hero movie set in the 90's coming a few months before End Game. People will still see it because she is being hyped to be the most powerful Marvel hero and the only one that can go toe to toe with Thanos.
That's the reality of it basically? I dont blame casual or comic fans for not being hype for it. Especially since nobody was asking for the character.
I think after End Game drops people will look at the character differently.

They won't tell the story even with her. The feminists would be up in arms if you de powered your first solo female movie character. Plus that story aligns more with Ms Marvel back the 80s, the MCU looks like it's adopting the more modern Carol Danvers as Captain Marvel storylines.
