an MCU director's job is to make the mundane feel special. that is the feeling you got with the other spidey films. just him swinging felt special.

like how spielberg turned a sunrise into timeless celluloid magic.
watts on the other hand makes the special feel mundane. there is no sense of wonderment or magic. no sense of suspense, thrill or danger. it tugs at the brain but not at the emotions.
watts is paint-by-numbers as bland as it gets. you could re-order the scenes in the movie and no narrative tension/suspense would be lost - because at no point is any narrative tension/suspense built up.

watts is competent but his job is to be more than that. he is making a movie, a narrative not showing film story boards in sequence and at this level more is rightfully expected of him.
