Yea he was ill but he wasn't leading any armies....all the praetors and senators they showed so far have been idiots. I don't think Rome was conquering half the world with leaders like that. Just nice to see a smart Roman leader for a change

Marcus would have sonned Batty until he put in the mines, this guy thought so far ahead to send his own scouts near spartacus lines, knowing they would be killed and in the process lead to the death of two generals, the house Crassius bows to no one.

history says Spartacus and Crassus fought one on one (not really but Spartacus did cut through his armies and got close enough to kill crassus personal guards. )

but you know they are going to fight one on one for the final.

while Spartacus is the better fighter Crassus will do the unexpected.

Yeah, they also had to chop a lot of their battle scenes. As much as I liked Rome I really hated those build ups and have the pay off be some blurry sequence of fighting and then quickly cut to the aftermath

The battle they did show for the series end was impressive though.

but you saw how big there sets were.

at least Spartacus had the right idea with the green screen.

Agreed this was a really good 1st episode and they did a great job in introducing Crassus as a real threat to Spartacus.
