It's not even comparable, I should have elaborated, both contain fantastical, or semi fantastical elements, 'BB' more then 'Sopranos', but neither of them come close to the kind of shyt 'SOA' has pulled in the last few seasons. Compare and contrast the jail hits in 'BB" finale, to this latest SOA bullshyt. Both have elements of fantasy and fiction in them, but SOA has gone so far in the opposite direction of it's strongest seasons, episodes, and moments. Great tv can make you believe, or suspend disbelief, this shyt just makes me shake my head.

I usually hate when people use this excuse for trash but...if you wanted realism this you're watching the wrong show and you shouldve known this years ago. I accept certain shyt from SOA that I dont from the other "better" shows.

This show is basically a cartoon or a video game. they just pull of "missions" every episode and then get into another mission the next week.

My beef now is that its usually gratifying in some way. There was nothing gratifying about Opie's character. It was just cheap. He was built up as a fan favorite then used as the default scapegoat whenever the writers needs something tragic to happen and then he died. Thats weak.

Not even sure why he had to die yesterday. To make Pope look evil? To push Jax over the edge? It really just made me feel less sympathy for Jax...

I understand the need for retaliation, and for the show to have these dynamics, but my issue is with the ham fisted, over the top, cartoonish nature of everything, it makes it hard to even care what is on the screen, when done with such ineptitude. Do they really think crime bosses wear three piece suits and burn people alive with their cigars? or that high profile criminals in the feds would be turned into death match cannon fodder? TV is TV, I understand that, but the realism in shows like 'Breaking Bad', 'The Sopranos', among others, is what separates them from hackneyed bullshyt like this has turned into.

To be fair, dude is not a "criminal" in the public mind. Hes a businessman..its not that farfetched for him to be driven around and him wearing suits all the time

It used to be, a cut above a trashy, cartoon, though. That's why I take objection. And, yeah, Opies death, esp. the way it happened was completely trashy, needless, shock value, nonsense, just like Tig's daughter's death, it's offensive, distasteful violence. Sutter ramped up the blood and violence, and turned down any subtleties in the characters, themes, it's a cheap paperback at this point.

You're not making sense...the BB jail hits were far more fantasy than what happened to Opie last night. Guards being paid off and turning a blind eye to inmates being killed is far more realistic than the Godfather style hits that Walt did in record time, in perfect unison and at different locations.

You can watch any Hell's Angel or outlaw biker doc and see lot of the shyt Sutter writes has or could have happened. I mean the show is meant to be entertaining which it is, not hyperrealistic. It's been ducktales for a while now.

it was the two things together, what I took offense, the suits, not really an issue, tossing a cigar onto a gasoline trial was laughable. More of the overall portrayal, it doesn't matter if it's realistic or not, just present in a competent manner, that doesn't make me roll my eyes when someone is being burned alive.

I'm speechless...I knew it was coming when jax told him about everything but I still ain't want Op to go out like that. Dude never violated anybody but yet always took the L from someone else's. He was supposed to get some W's on the back end or something :to:

Tig better kill pope when he gets out. No if ands or buts about it. Gotta do it for his daughter and op and jax gotta kill that guard.

This dude clay is a straight scumbag but I can't wait to see him make his power move though.

Disagree completely. Yeah, the BB hits, would not have happened in perfect succession, or probably that many, so seamlessly, but there was enough there, to convince me, enough to enjoy the show, cringe at the violence, etc etc. SOA I'm just offended by the low brow shock value style of violence. You want emotions? Show a man slamming the glass while his friend his murdered. Or lay writhing on the ground screaming like an animal while his daughter is murdered by the Daredevil villain. It's trash.

Tig? Jax is the one that needs to kill Tig and Pope.

I think it was meant to show that Opie was pretty much the heart of the club and exactly how a soldier is meant to be. And this is how far SAMCRO has fallen to where the most loyal soldier sacrifices himself for the club, as he has done for years. This is the turning point for Jax just like Pope said. Clay killed JT. Jax in a roundabout way sacrificed his best friend.

Meanwhile, pieces of shyt like Tig is still breathing.

We'll just disagree...SOA has always been a very violent show so I don't know why you're just now being offended. Otto had his eye carved out. One dude had a shiv shoved in his ear. The traitor Son had his tattoo/skin burned off. Gemma was beaten, gang raped and beaten again. But you just now getting offended? :comeon:

SOA at one point was a half decently written show. The violence served a purpose in the storytelling. Now its just there to help Kurt Sutters terrible writing limp along.
