I was hoping Franklin got killed or got prison time for all the destruction he caused but him living and becoming a bum is actually better IMO.

He destroyed his friends and family. His father is dead and his mother will spend her life in prison. He has a son that he'll never see. He killed one of his old homies (Kevin) and that white boy from the rich high school. His best friend (Leon) is done with him. His childhood sweetheart is a recovering crackhead. His uncle is dead and his auntie is a wanted fugitive.

Was a big time dope dealer that had the clothes, cars, properties, etc only to end up with with no money, no friends, no family, no respect, and homeless.

I had a feeling he was going to end up a crackhead.

I was close. Poetic justice at its finest.

I’m still fukked up about Franklin man. And I’ll say it 1000 times that cissy was short sighted and didn’t kill teddy to help Franklin. She did it for selfish reasons, one was Alton and the other was to destroy Franklin for saying he didn’t care about seeing her again.

Cause anyone could see this where Franklin was headed if he didn’t get the money.

You called yourself sacrificing yourself for him, but did the most destructive thing you could have possibly done to him.

You literally put the bullet or knife his heart.

It woulda been better if teddy gave him the half and came back and killed him

I knew it was over once he gave the kgb agent up immediately and took that one drink.

I was just hoping he would get one break to pull him back

My pre ep best ending was he would end up like god father 3, where he had all the money and no family. And worse was gonna be him being a addict on crack or alcohol

I can’t get the sight of his face and teeth out of my mind.

Really is a story of a “good kid mad city”

My nikka he had numerous opportunities out after that. Franklin was completely free of the bullshyt after giving up the KGB nikka. He could have;

-Sold the property he had when dude came to his house

-Taken Peach's $12k ($25k equivalent back then) and gotten himself right... Buy half a brick and get himself back in the game if he wanted to

But those people are out traveling the world, buying everything they never had as well as everything their heart desired.

A sedentary lifestyle of drug binges and purposely laying low and not being flashy (hiding from Franklin) doesn't seem that costly

the irony tho is that she inquired, but she sent davis to franklin. if she wanted to clean him out at that point i'm sure she could've figured out a way to do it. she was prioritizing their survival.

franklin responded by selling all the south central properties without giving her ANY kind heads up. he actually did the very thing he accused her of, but was attacking her loyalty in the process. he was too fukked up to see it though.

ranting about her talking to his competition (another black man), but had no problem selling to a white slumlord so he could fund a dream that was already dead.

Dude, you gotta understand how people thought in the '80s. This is before the internet made everybody all knowing and cynical.

A lot of young people were largely apolitical and a lot more naive, even a lot a Black people.

They eitner didn't know about the CIA or thought old heads like Alton were crazy for talking about "conspiracies" with the Panthers.

Even stuff like COINTELPRO wasn't mainstream, it was some "conspiracy" shyt crazy nikkaz like Professor Griff or something would be talking about.

A White dude from the CIA wouldn't automatically be the horrific figure to him then as it is for us now.

Saint wasn't a regular guy though.

Season 2 ended with Franklin figuring out that Teddy was CIA, tying in the shyt in Nicaragua to him getting the drugs.

His pops was a Black Panther, who saw first hand how the CIA was ruthless and had no issue fukking up black progress by any means necessary and wasn't afraid to share that opinion. Alton was taking him to black owned book stores so he was getting knowledge.

Frank wasn't oblivious to this shyt, he knew about it, just didn't care because he was getting money.

i def think she did it for selfish reasons. not intentionally (no way do i think she was trying to destroy franklin). but she wanted to put a target on teddy since cuba. i think her plan was always to kill him during the handoff, which is why she had the gun to begin with. she went in planning to let franklin get his money first, but when teddy trolled her she snapped and said fukk it. she didn't care.

It’s been a while since I watched an episode of a show and can say

“damn that fukked with me”

but damn. .

. that fukked with me.

They gave us the ending we deserved.

Unfortunately a LOT of us have seen or are related to a Franklin.


All throughout the episode as he got more and more desperate I found myself hoping something anything would land for him knowing full well he made the bed and now needed to lie down on it.

Franklin in his fukked up state saying Leon was his best friend and that he was proud of him combined with Leon’s desperate call out to him at the end was some tough television to watch.
