Great episode makes you really wonder about how backwards some are when they worship and put on pedestal crack dealers of that era on how much money they were getting. Materialism at all costs even if the way of acquiring that money destroys your own community.

This episode mde feel a bit sympathetic to "crackheads" even the term is a pejorative when you see a character like Mel who did a 360 from a girl going away to college and now she is an addict. It also dispels the narrative that a lot of these crack dealers did it out of survival as if there were no other career opportunities but this series shows that they did out of pure materialism at the expense of the well being of their own communities.

an episode like this makes you realize why inner city black voters were putting pressure on their representatives to do something about the destruction of their communities by these crack dealers and why they supported stiffer sentences for crack vs powder cocaine and the various crime bills. we started looking at those things, especially the sentencing disparity as racist, but back then law abiding black folks didn't see it that way as they watched their communities destroyed.

Frank is knowingly and willingly working with the feds to sell crack in his community, he's destroying it. Jerome and his girl have been with him from the jump.

Frank's mom was against it, but now is cool with it, because apparently using the money made from selling crack to buy buildings in the neighborhoods her son is destroying makes everything ok. Be cool with your son selling crack but then get the nerve to have the :wow:when the sweet girl that grew up next to you gets hooked on it.

Frank's dad was against it, but now seems to be cool with it. Last week he told the family about having to kill his cousin because people found out he was working with the government. Alton was a Black Panther, he knows firsthand how the government gets involved in the affairs of black people trying to better themselves and tries to sow discord. He knows first hand how substance abuse can fukk up powerful movements, powerful people, and he's making french toast for his drug dealing family.

That's the argument that some pundits made in a recent podcast made especially in this election campaign where people like Biden are getting pressure on this crime bill that he sponsored while in Congress. People never mention the terror that Black law abiding citizens (which are the overwhelming majority of these afflicted communities) went through watching this phenomenon play out. Imagine cop's daughter being susceptible to this phenomenon what about the average citizen's children?

But people on either side of the issue are too simple minded to see the complexity of the argument and what era that was in especially in this prison reform (which I support) but there have been to many superficial, on the surface arguments about this subject.
