It's probably because of Power (which isn't fair) but I am not interested in an east coast Snowfall at all rn, I'm ready to get back to that Cali vibe :ahh:
Even if we're talking about the 80's, I feel like its a story we've seen before (e.g. New Jack City). I don't know if they could even think up a way to make it interesting.

nyc version of snowfall can center around the 1980s and 1990s and can include:

beginning of hip hop
crackheads
hustlers
stick up crews
carribean influx (haitians/jamaicans)
hispanic influx (puerto ricans/dominicans)
graffiti
fashion

etc

new jack city, paid in full, juice isnt even a quarter of it all

you nikkas just be talking

But those stories are not all centered on the importation of cocaine, which is the connecting factor in Snowfall.

The show you're describing is not an "East Coast version of Snowfall". Most of what you are describing was around long before crack existed.

Yeah, a lot of these things happened in different decades. Caribbean and Latino influx has always been happening since like the the 1900s, Hip hop started in the 70s, crack the 80s. This is more than one show.

you’re taking what i said too literally

i basically mean a 80s/90s period piece based on New York City doesnt have to strictly be based on the cocaine/crack trade

I agree with you on that, but I think it would be kind of hard to have one central "Forest Gump" type character connecting all of those different stories. Snowfall is JUST focused on on cocaine.

there wouldnt be one forrest gump type characher connecting everything

it would be no central character, pretty much like The Wire

they really need to stop the narrative that blacks in the 80s(and now) were scared of Mexicans

Rick(Franklin) was not the only coke/rock dealer(there were many more)

they played the CIA angle way too early

the Cali Cartel was (The Villabona brothers) very present in Los Angeles

he has no antagonist (besides Andre)
