The show's brilliant and it's detailing how the crack epidemic manifested as accurately as possible despite this is a fictional series.

People on here complaining about gangs either weren't paying attention, lack understanding or too ignorant about LA South Central during the early 80's.

It's true that the Crips been around since the 50's and Bloods since the early 70's, but there were a lot of other miscellaneous gangs and cliques too, plus gang banging that we know it today started once crack came on the scene. Before that, sure there was beef, but nothing that was driven to kill each other off. Most of the beef were between persons. So, Snowfall portrayed this accurately. All the people Franklin knew on a street level outside of his own folks were gang affiliated. But smartly without the stereotypes. The thing was it wasn't any escalated violence and Franklin was trying hard for a urban turf war to occur which was inevitable no matter what.

You saw the foreshadowing of how it was going to lead into gang turf wars through Leon. First being fascinated with the automatic Uzi machine, then his aggressive animosity towards Man-boy. The whole violent gang banging era really started in '85 and that was directly due to the growth of the crack epidemic. Once crack began to flow into different parts of L.A. (keep in mind the Mexicans is cooking it up too now), now comes the war for territory and set affiliations and more guns, and stronger firepower.

Everything is escalating as it should within the actual timeline. They even got it right that the Olympics in L.A. sorta quelled the coverage of the growing gang tension.

This definitely most likely be a 5 season series leading to the Contra Hearing in 1987. I think the show is going to use Teddy as the show's version of Ollie North and testify before Congress.

no they didn't

3rd world and the benzos were at war (crack crews)
violence was actually decreasing

Not in 1984.... LA in '84 and LA in 87 was almost night and day.

And I said quelled the COVERAGE... the media wasn't focusing on the crack epidemic until AFTER the Olympics, because it was in L.A.

You don't need over the top violence to run shyt.

Dude is black... Now how many brothers back then was getting pure coke, straight from the source, in tons, for the lowest price?? Now instead of being a dikk, he literally puts EVERYONE on. So now if you kill him, you fukking up your own product and business, and gonna have everyone else on your head because you fukked theirs too. They've also seen this nikka catch a murder charge... Then miraculously beat it without so much as a court case. He's the only nikka with the formula. And everything I said, doesn't even include the fact that his family/best friends are stone cold killers too

I think your point will show up now with the gang shyt though. That's when it became more about "are you in this gang or nah" vs "oh i just fukk with him." I think a lot of these leaders gonna have numbers and not give two fukks about Franklin. The recipe is out and they want it all. But he still got the CIA so that's the "enemies" he's referring to in the last scene

I get what you saying i guess the nnext season gone turn into that. Im moreso saying how he be getting hip to everything figuring shyt out so quick plus 80s crack la im sure nikkas was way more ruthless lol...that business gentlemen shyt went out when crack hit especially when gangs started controllling the drugs...franklin a rat now though so maybe he gone feel untouchable...

its gone be interesting imma let the whole show play out before i rank it with the wire or breaking bad. The characters in those shows was getting constant pressure from all angles they wasnt just able to get money so easily without violence. Franklin go thru some shyt here and there but we gone see. It was for sure more than 1 franklin type nikka when crack hit thats why im like what enemies when he said that. We gone see

That former DEA agent gotta be the dumbest bytch on the planet.... U gonna show up to work with Gustavo like u didn't fukk him over big time in the past and just think shyt is sweet.... She deserved to get shot with her stupid ass.... :heh:

I'm currently binging and on this episode. The first thing I thought when I saw her was there's no way Gustavo would work with her and I'd lose all respect for the writers if they made it so. When her shot her I was like :gladbron: :ohlawd:

I absolutely hate, niccas ain't up on this show. We, what one Ep from the finale. After last week, this shyt hit the ground running.
Damson deserves an Emmy, and this show deserves more pub.
Meanwhile, every chick at the job asking if I saw the latest episode of Power. I can't... :hhh:

Lol. The acclaim was happening during the time of your post. All the social media swirl caused me and my girl to binge this shyt in 3 days. It also helped when they finally put all the episodes on Hulu.

I’ll admit I didn’t check this show out at first because it just seemed like ANOTHER drug drama. nikkas got tired of that shyt. Luckily it turned out to be really good. But you can’t be mad folks weren’t up on this given the landscape

Snowfall is on a different level above The Wire critics should be eating this show up. I expect recognition to come soon, some things you just can't ignore.

how? :dahell:

Don’t get me wrong it’s a great show but we’ve been ignoring a lot of writing issues and convenient plot devices if we’re being honest. I don’t trip cuz every show has them but when you say it’s above the Wire... then I gotta start critiquing it on another level.

That’s all fine and dandy but not how it works in the drug game. You need to be ruthless or else someone is always gonna come for your spot. Whether internal or external. In the beginning Franklin was leaving folks alive (Karvel, Lenny) letting his people disrespect him (Kevin) etc. None of it was believable given how much bread he was holding and how small his team was. This was my biggest gripe in the first two seasons. Didn’t feel realistic for his position.

plus he was always rolling around dolo. At least they did a better job in season 3 showing him kill some folks and instill FEAR in his people and his enemies.
