One of the creators said that the finale would operate as a "soft" reset to set the tone for the rest of the series.

That's what it felt like.

But either the first 40 minutes was a dream Parallel universe, or they have some explain to do

That was their most ambitious episode fr. I know dozens of people wont like it, but I appreciated it for what it was. Just wish we knew what happened to Mel.

I enjoyed it.

As I said earlier, I loved the S2 finale for the same reason - it just put the plot on hold and showed us Franklin going through shyt, with some commentary behind it. It wasn't as good as Franklin in jail, but it was interesting enough. Everything else - Mel, Manboy, the corrupt cop, the Mexicans, etc. - can wait.

Yeah that dream sequence could've been 10-15 minutes and the rest could've been whatever caused the gang war and whatever happened to Mel
