The lead writer for Smackdown:
WWE NXT Lead Writer Ryan Ward Promoted To SmackDown
Ryan Ward, the head writer for WWE’s wildly popular NXT brand, has been promoted to writing for WWE SmackDown.
According to Dave Meltzer on
Wrestling Observer Radio, Ward recently received the promotion. Originally joining WWE back in 2009, Ward did not have any prior experience working in the wrestling industry upon his hiring (though he was a big wrestling fan). Since that time, he has worked side by side with Paul “Triple H” Levesque in developing NXT into what is arguably one of the best wrestling products in the world. Ward (along with Levesque) recently won the “Best Booker” award in the 2015 Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards.
Upon his WWE hiring in 2009, Ward originally worked as a writer’s assistant with WWE’s main roster. He was promoted to an associate writer in 2011 and quickly moved into a full time writing position. In June 2013, Ward was promoted as a lead writer. He served on the
SmackDown brand at that time before moving down to NXT to write in 2014.
