Powell’s POV: It’s nice to see the viewership numbers improve while the show quality is also improving. The August 1, 2017 edition of Smackdown delivered a 1.70 rating with 2.584 million viewers.

Powell’s POV: Smackdown remained flat heading into SummerSlam. The advertising focussed on an AJ Styles promo and what would happen next between Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. The August 15, 2017 edition of Smackdown delivered 2.53 million viewers.

Powell’s POV: A nice increase coming out of SummerSlam over last week’s number. The August 22, 2017 edition of Smackdown delivered 2.685 million viewers for the first show coming out of SummerSlam.

Powell’s POV: Smackdown essentially held steady coming out of the holiday weekend. It’s worth nothing that the premiere of the heavily promoted series “The Purge” drew 1.389 million viewers coming out of Smackdown on USA Network. The Miz & Mrs. premiere delivered 1.473 million viewers in the same slot back on July 24. The September 6, 2017 edition of Smackdown delivered 2.582 million viewers.
