This David Star thing....I don't think I like the state of wrestling angles in 2019. Where a guy posts a professionally shot promo on his twitter hyping a ROH title match in Israel by talking about how Sinclair Broadcasting is a right wing extremist group and he, as a liberal progressive Jew, is their worst nightmare, and he's offended they're giving him a title match in Israel because he's Jewish..but he'll take it anyway just to spite them.

Then the angle continues that he demands Sinclair remove his promo...that he shot and uploaded himself, unprompted by Sinclair. Internet worked shoot antisemitism culture wars anticorporation angles over wrestling titles in 2019.

First of all, let me start by saying I never got why promoters love David Starr. He isnt that good.

That being said, his name is a reference/joke on being Jewish. Thus this gimmick makes no sense.

Third, are the indies so dead that ROH thought signing David Starr was a good idea?

I don't think they even signed him, it's a ROH title defense in a promotion based in Israel. I guess he's the most known Jewish indie guy, so they booked him for the match. I don't believe Starr has ever even worked for this promotion. But the idea that they have to do a worked shoot angle with politics and culture wars stuff, then making it about "the powers that be" of right wing extremist Sinclair trying to SILENCE this JEW and that's supposed to be building interest and heat for a match is just....so 2019. Especially lol as its for 2 guys that don't even work for the promotion the match is going to take place in. All it does is make literally everyone involved look like a hypocrite or shytbag: Sinclair for being a right wing trash media corporation, ROH/Jay Lethal for representing them, the Israeli promotion working with Sinclair, and David Starr for taking the booking and money from them while running them down at the same time. shyt it even makes the fans who pay to see any of the involved into shytheads, too.

I've seen a few David Starr matches in PWG and liked him enough, he's fine, nothing about him particularly stands out but he seems pretty competent at everything he does.

So wait they're going this hard for this title match for the minimal possible payoff? If David Starr isnt signed and isnt going to then why run the angle? Just make it an exhibition and keep it moving. What's next? A #metoo angle with Mandy Leon?

:scust: I just thought about how possible that is

What the hell was he doing to re-injure it that severely when he hasn't even had a match yet?

It's pretty wild that the promotion I found out about on fukking Kazaa randomly in 2002 (the Bryan/Ki/Daniels match specifically) just had its 17th anniversary show and is running MSG in a few weeks.

I found this promotion on channel 48. Tuesdays at midnight.
when they used to run one or 2 wrestling shows every night around that time.

shoutout to CZW. another one of those promotions. and theyre prolly the only other one that's still around too.
hell, they've been around even longer. I remember they were initially given ecw's timeslot.

How/When did the bouncers turn face?

when silas young gave them the curve.

Per PWInsider

Ian Riccaboni was sick as a dog with the flu the day of G1 Supercard and was doing everything in his power not to be pulled from the broadcast.

The original conceived plan for the debut of the former Beautiful People was to have Madison Rayne laid out as part of that angle instead of Kelly Klein. But Rayne asked for and received her ROH release and headed back to Impact Wrestling, she was unhappy with the idea and creative for her from ROH in general.

The fan who was struck with the ladder at G1 Supercard met with several wrestlers, including Matt Taven and Kazuchika Okada and was given some free merchandise before leaving MSG that night. We are told the ladder hit his knee but he's OK.

Former ROH stars Julius Smokes and Sal Rinauro were at G1 Supercard.

Former WWE writer Kevin Eck and producer Joey Matthews have been more involved in working with the creative team of late, joining Delirious, Todd Sinclair and Bully Ray to make up the creative team.
