It makes me wonder if they're telling the story in this specific way to justify what happened with Tariq. I know Courtney Kemp doesn't write for this show, but it makes me think that if Raising Kanan came out a couple years ago, they wouldn't be trying to connect it so closely with Tariq's story.

I understand Raq going off on Simphony because at the end of the day he was wrong. I get the annoying single mom "that's my baby" shyt. I deal with it in real life. Simp showed that he can be played by her green ass son. She kinda put on front street when they started dealing with each other that she don't play when it come to her son. I really can't fault her for wanting loyalty 100% of the time.

I never thought i'll say this but the tariq show was way better than this. I tought being kanan early story it will be a lot of pressure and hard stuff. I actually watched the tariq spin off only in anticipation for the kanan story.
I get it's the first season and they take things gradually, and kanan didn't become this ruthless drug dealer overnight, but damn, nothing worthy hapenned yet. they better step up by the end of the season
