I also need to do better with budgeting for clothing, again putting money away regularly and shopping regularly. Appearance is important when looking for new opportunities and I NEED to invest in some wardrobe updates

This is so true. I find myself only shopping for occasions and never building out a good wardrobe because events are far and in between. I'm looking to start just shopping every two weeks with pay day and build out a good looking wardrobe. Just leave work and cop 2 or 3 nice pieces. Rinse and repeat.

Gonna start investing in some more tailored clothes as well. I'll be in Nigeria soon so I can source cheap labor.

Credit scores updated today. Equifax pushed above 750 for the first time :ehh:. The other two need some TLC, but aren't far behind. Savings is recovering nicely. Other than maybe buying some plane tickets I don't have any purchases lined up. The stock I picked out some time ago is doing ok. DRIP has already netted me a free share for one of them. It's not much, but it's something.

I gotta stop booking first class flights :pachaha:. But now that's out of the way, nothing else for me to spend on this year and into next. Just gotta keep on collecting a paycheck now.

Almost the end of the year and I'm comparing my 2018 expenditure by category vs 2019 thus far.

My increase in dining out has been :picard:

I'll just have to bite the bullet and get a car note. :francis:

I'm only looking to finance about 6K worth of a car. I can buy that out right but my savings will take a hit.

Most dealers won't even finance something unless it's 10K plus. I'll look to set up some sort of private agreement to get it done.

I don't need a brand new whip. Just a good car that's reliable and can go for another 4-5 years with little maintenance. I still take the train to work but the commute time is just a bit too long for my liking (2.25 hrs door to door). Getting a car would cut my commute to about 1.5 hrs door to door and possibly 1.1 hrs if I were to leave work after rush hour.

2020 I'm really getting tight with my finances. It's mainly eating out and entertainment (women) that did me in for 2019.

Why not secure a loan from a bank rather than going for dealer financing?

Just wrapped up my 2019 expenses and compared to 2018.

:francis:

I suffer from little frivolous spending. I nickel and dime myself into spending large amounts.

Eating out is definitely where I'll need to trim the fat (figuratively and literally).

If you can’t 100% get rid of those frivolous eating expenses I’d look into getting a card that gives rewards for dining out such as a chase sapphire. At least there’s some value there :yeshrug:

I thought of that as well, but I’m just committing to cutting back and eating out less. For financial and health reasons. Those CCs actually get people to spend more as they justify the “rewards and cash back”. For me I just have a simple cash rewards card. Only other one I’m looking at is a travel card so I don’t get hit with foreign transaction fees.
