How much the the purchase and installation cost you bro? I have Vivint home system, i’ll probably implement that in my home security system
I'm not a home owner yet it was for my moms but funny enough her Vivint came with the nest. Since you already have the Vivint you know how piff it is but adding in controlling your temperature with your phone makes it a goat tier combo. I'm not sure about the initial installation of everything but she pays like $25 a month for everything since she already had her own sensors on the windows and stuff from a previous security system

What's good brehs? Hope all is well. With the first of the month here I decided to finally buckle down & create a budget in an attempt track every dollar I earn/spend, at least for a month. I'm using an excel budget I found off Youtube, so not the slickest.

Actually discovered a NPR Podcast called Life Kit. They have a a couple Personal Finance episodes. I only listened to the first episode so far and they mention the strategy that @Dolla$ mentioned earlier with rewarding yourself. I'm going to finish the series. I'll post any gems. First episode below

Get Started Saving – Life Kit: All Guides – Podcast

SN: I chopped it up with a coworker and somehow landed on the topic of Personal Finance, lol. Good to find others on the same wave.

14 Best Savings Rates for May 2019 - NerdWallet

Stash your emergency fund in a high interest savings account? This article has the most comprehensive list I've seen yet of which banks have the highest rates. I opened an account with Barclays (2.20% APY) in January of this year to give it a try, and maybe dissuade Barclays from nerfing or reducing the credit line of my Uber Visa card with them if they see I have some kind of savings. The initial idea was to auto deposit $100 a month, but then I got impatient and decided to apply Elizabeth Warren's 50/30/20 budget rule, and deposit 20% of my paychecks into the account. You can see the evolution of this thinking below along with the amount of interest payout I received:

I think once I reach $2k in savings with Barclays, I'll open up an account with Vio Bank (2.46% APY), and that will be my main emergency fund account till something better somehow comes along.

Bump.

I'm getting around to using that Excel Spreadsheet I posted. I'm still blowing bread on dumb shyt though, smh. Writing it down in the Budget stings. Hopefully that helps me.

I spoke of Churning Bank Accounts earlier in this thread. I did the Chase Checking $300 Bonus. Waiting on that $200+$100 For the Savings Account. Easy $600.

Req: 1. Direct Deposit for Checking (Any Amount) $300
2. 15K in Savings $200+$100

OPEN YOUR CHASE ACCOUNT TODAY

Wells Fargo:

Req: Deposit 3k/month - Keep 1500 to remain fee free or 10 Debit Card Purchases.

2020 right around the corner. What's the biggest thing you're looking to change concerning your finances?
I cut back my investments into my 401K because I thought the markets would go into a downturn and I am/was thinking about quitting my job. If I get more money, I want to get back into trading the stock market again.

Stability and a salary increase. If I don't switch jobs before the year is out, my raise next year needs to be worthwhile to keep me around for another year, but that won't come through until about March and I already know it's not going to be. I might pay down another chunk of my student loans or this car loan around that time too.

I have a budget, but I'm looking to standardize and get on "auto pilot". Allocating percentages of income to certain categories and regularly add to them. I'm not really looking for high rates of return, just consistency at this point. I'm a terrible saver, so I opened a CD and an easy investor account and been putting a little money into both each pay. It works not being able to withdraw until maturity.

I also need to do better with budgeting for clothing, again putting money away regularly and shopping regularly. Appearance is important when looking for new opportunities and I NEED to invest in some wardrobe updates

As far as income goes...I don't even know. I'll be done school early in the year and my goal is to narrow down career choices by October (that's when my contract is up), but hopefully before then.
