After a last-minute
cancellation by rapper Snoop Dogg, the NYS Fair has replaced him with another iconic figure in hip-hop.
Rapper Nas will perform at Chevy Court at the NYS Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 8 p.m. in place of Snoop Dogg, who canceled late Tuesday night.
Fair officials received word around 3 p.m. Tuesday that Snoop Dogg's concert would be canceled due to illness. Just more than six hours later, they wrangled Nas to replace him.
"We are so fortunate to be able to secure an artist of Nas's stature on such short notice," said Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner said. "His record as a performer speaks for itself and tomorrow night he'll put on what I know will be one of the most interesting shows of the 2015 Fair."
Nas is best known for his pioneering 1994 hip-hop album, "Illmatic."
