With that said, when that little nas 30 stream request happened, we pushed 30 on YouTube to 1.7m. Wasn’t even at 1M…. But we did it ya! Good job to those that put effort. We do what we can….
Congrats! This proves Nas fan base is able to play the streaming game. We just got to learn how to properly do it! It’s even more impressive bc it wasn’t a lot that participated.

Can you confirm something from a buying perspective. On iTunes if I purchase each song for $1.99 off the album, will it count towards the album each purchase? For example if the album has 12 songs, would it count as 12 album sales?

I understand what needs to be done in terms of Nas getting his streams. I admit I probably haven't been doing it right, but I have since been trying to figure out this streaming thing so the God could get his. I fukks with @Life is Good. We've agreed on a lot of Nas topics in the past, but with all due respect, I wasn't feeling how @Life is Good 's message came across to me. I TOTALLY understand it, but I felt like I was being talked down to. I heeded the message, though, and went on my phone to remove all Nas downloads, so every time I listen to Nas from my phone, it will be streamed. Still, though, those fans who don't necessarily know the streaming game are SOME OF the same ones that have been with Nas since Genesis. I know I have, so I wasn't feeling that shyt. Homie, do know that we long-time Nas fans can be talked to and worked with, not scolded. If that wasn't how you planned to come across or the message that you intended to convey, I get it, but I processed it as a scolding. Yo! Nas is my GOAT and deserves the streams for all the work he has put in. We older cats, with careers and kids, will get around to taking the time to figure out the streaming game. I know and respect the job of working to get Nas his props, but just know that we are trying to support the God. PEACE

I collect all Nas physical CDs so that's always number one—even the old Maxi singles, LOL. I also stream Nas shyt on sound cloud in my office all day, every day at work. I listen to his shyt in the gym and at the crib, but he hasn't benefitted from all of my use of his music so that's where I know I could do better.

@kes929 & others interested.

I learned some valuable info from this. i hope it helps you.

Apple Music streams are music files which are from Apple Music.

If you have purchased an album from the iTunes Store, and you're playing the files from that purchased album, that is not a stream. It does count as a purchase for the artist.

If you add the album from Apple Music, and play the Apple Music files, that is a stream. Anytime you play a song from the Apple Music Library it is a stream.

This information explains what is included in the Apple Music data of an artist:

"Plays, Listeners, Shazams, and More

We measure your music's performance in these categories:

  • Plays are recorded when a user initiates song playback in Apple Music for more than 30 seconds.
  • Average Daily Listeners are the average number of daily unique listeners in the time frame selected.
  • Purchases are recorded when a customer buys your song or album from the iTunes Store.
  • Shazams are recorded anytime your song is recognized by the Shazam app or one of the partner apps that use Shazam technology.
  • Insights are a list of milestones and all-time bests for your songs and albums, highlighting important changes in the data.
  • Radio Spins are recorded when a subscriber listens to your song for more than 30 seconds while tuned in to an Apple Music radio station. Apple Music radio stations are created when a user picks a song or an artist to generate a custom radio station, or from an Apple Music curated radio station.
  • Video Views are recorded when an Apple Music user watches your music video for more than 30 seconds."

You can find this and more here: Understand Your Analytics - Apple Music for Artists.

A stream will count as a "Play" no matter where you're playing it from if it's an Apple Music file. It can be part of a playlist, from a search, and while playing a file offline - so long as these are Apple Music files. If they're files that you purchased, it would be part of the "Purchases" category.

There are content providers who the artists work with. This page provides more information: iTunes Connect Resources and Help.

No.

It would count as singles sales.

STREAMING multiple songs a certain amount of times equals an album sale, not purchasing each track separately

If you really want a Nas album to get attention, ask media orgs to review it. That'll have a much bigger effect than any streaming party.
