That 2nd verse is just some incredible stuff.Always in my top 10 Nas songs.
One of those songs that came out exactly when I needed it in my life as a young teen. Lowkey might be a Nas song that had the biggest impact on me, ever.
Only If I Ruled the World can compete because that's the first Nas song I remember listening to and made me a stan from first listen till now.
What's love - when you don't give your man dough he wanna stick you?
What's love - you got beef? Nobody rollin' wit you?
What's love - you locked up, and your family don't care
Is love a four-letter word, that deceives the air?
That shyt meant a lot to my dramatic ass 13 year old self.
Same. If I ruled the world was my introduction to Nas. They used to play that video on the box all the time. The first part of the video had the verse from the message. And I heard him on that east coast/ west coast killas and my young ass was was like this dude is amazing. I was maybe 10 years old at the time. I remember wanting to get "it was written" and my dad shut that down quick . He didn't let me hear rap albums at that age cause of the content. Funny enough "If I ruled the world" isn't even in my top 30 nas songs at this point
