I can’t get down with those drumless loops at all. I’ll take one song of it, but other than that I need drums. If we go off the past, he has always given Nas some drums, so he would probably switch it up.

Nas bodies the drumless loop on Magic but I agree...drums are always gonna be best for him since he's rapped to the drum pattern (and bpm) his entire career. I don't think Alch would give Nas the type of beats he gives someone like Earl but then again, I didn't think Kanye would give Nas the types of beats he gave him. Can't predict how shyt goes but Alch has spoken many times about having "unfinished business" with Nas, and wanting to tap back in hard. I think he'd do his thing, as long as he doesn't whip out the "left" samples and shyt lol.

Plus I think working alongside Hit Boy on beats would be dope, to kinda peep the energy and match or react to it.

Nas and ALC have a far better track record than him and Kanye, If Kanye kept to still dreaming type beats Nasri would have been heralded.

What was special about the Nas + ALC collaborations is that both were in top form in that 2001-2004 era:

No Idea's Original (both versions)
My Way
Book of Rhymes
Mastermind
Revolutionary Warfare
My Will (Honeymoon's Over)
Tick Tock

^^^ some of the best work from both. I still think there's untapped potential there. That Mega track featuring Nas produced by ALC is dope. I still want to hear their unreleased work together. I liked "It Never Ends" from Lost Tapes 2 as well.

One never knows too.

I think that while he got good beats from alc he didn't have that jewel production like a keep it thoro or Johnny p caddy or scottie pippen. He could have it if he didn't pass on the we gonna make it beat

The Nasdaq Dow Jones track-listing is fake. STU Top Dude created that Tracklist back in the Nas BBS days. Talk Of New York is actually a song that was originally for Streets Disciple that leaked after the album dropped.

Nas scrapped the Nasdaq Dow Jones concept when he left Columbia for Def Jam.

I also think the Distant Relatives track-list is fake too. I remember it floating around Sohh after As We Enter dropped. White Man’s Paper is a song that was supposed to be on Hip Hop Is Dead but never was released and never leaked.

Elliot Wilson, of all people, actually heard the song and described it as similar to Cam’ron’s Bubble Music. The chorus was something like “I get my news/I get my views from this White Man’s Paper”

Damn STU top dude and hte nas forum. taking me back. my first hip hop forum. The NASDaq dow jones era was legendary. I remember when the honey moon is over freestyle (my will) came out - I was like nas is an animal rn. People don't consider the Street's Disciple Era to be one of his strongest, but it will always be my favorite just because of where I was in life and just being a teenager growing up.

what was the beat that mos def bought that was originally "The Toy" for Nas?

was it this?

nvm it was produced by kanye, alchemist confirmed it

Sunshine was produced by Kanye, that could be it. Wonder if it was erased or whether it's in some engineer's vaults.

I wonder if its the record that Salaam said Nas recorded where he was saying a bunch of wild stuff at the industry and they had to delete cause it was too real and was gonna cause problems (this was still 02 Nas after his mom death/the Power 106 rant/Meeting Kelis and marrying her/Flirtations with Murder Inc era. Its kind of amazing that he found a sense of calm making the album)

Its been rumored for a few years now that this is indeed the beat. Never confirmed however

Fun fact. Nas also recorded to the beat that became U Don’t Know My Name. It was a song called Memories

At 19:38 Hit says he just left from a studio session 30 minutes ago with Nas. Says Nas came up with the craziest first four bars and he basically forced Nas to sit down and finish the song. Says he can't talk much about it, but more or less confirms they're working on something.

At 24:30 he also confirms that Hit and Alchemist are working on some type of collab project.

Just make the collab project a Nas project and we good, i was just looking at Kendricks credits for his album and no wonder he keeps making classics, he has the best rap producers Cali has to offer.

He even added "I said it could fit the new album".
