Flew in from Miami to witness history and it was an incredible night
I copped a seat right behind the floor seats and the stage was right there
GL started off great with the 80s and early 90s classics but then went a little too commercial for my liking. Asked shorty next to me why was he playing commercial joints for a Nas crowd?
She said nostalgia. I said if it's that why not play Eye for an Eye, Verbal Intercourse, Back to the Grill, etc. But I digress.
The God just killed the stage. I saw Run comment on IG "Who's house? Nas house" and he was right.
Mary J. AZ. Slick Rick.
Lotta talk in this thread about bowing down and whatever.
Meanwhile Nas bowed to The Ruler on stage at MSG. That's the level of respect and reverence we should all show to our legends and elders, especially with so many leaving us.
The catalog is so crazy that I was left waiting for 40-16, EPMD, Nas is Like, I Gave You Power, Eye for an Eye, Verbal Intercourse, Live at the BBQ...but come on 30 years deep. We all witnessed greatness regardless.
Gave flowers to Trugoy RIP.
When his voice cracked as he shouted out his mom
I didn't get my hopes up for Lauryn, that would have brought the house down
Had a fleeting thought that the garden would go completely dark and then suddenly...
"fukk Jay-Z" booms out. Imagine the riot that would have started!
Yes I know...I'm just saying. For the culture and shyt.
What an amazing show. He's certainly come a long way live from when I saw him sloppy drunk at the 2014 Art Basel.
Side note: if you're in the city check out the Hip Hop Conscious/Unconscious photo exhibit at Fotografiska. Mass Appeal is putting that on and the history that's being celebrated deserves your patronage.
