There was also an interview where he said NY State of Mind Pt. II and Small World were two of his favorite songs he ever made lol.

Out of 15 jawns, 4 were great...maybe 3-4 more were good/decent....and like 7 was some shyt I don't ever care to hear again. Imo, as a whole, that's a weak album. That album felt lazy to me, like all across the board, from Nas's performance to the beats...maybe because they had to switch so much shyt around last minute. The standouts stand out like crazy from the rest.

I completely and wholeheartedly disagree with like 4 of ur song ratings.
NYSOM 2 is underrated AF, that shyt is amazing...I'm not gonna be that guy who goes too far and says some shyt like it's better than the original (It's not) but it's not that far behind it.
Small World is dope, very cinematic, I love that about it. Definitely not in my Top 25 Nas joints tho personally, probably not even Top 50.

Album lacks serious consistency...the highs on the album are amazing material but the lows are some of the worst songs I've heard from Nas.

Dr Knockboot was an interlude and the shyt wasn’t as bad as nikkas act like. Jay got a whole ass single with a similar beat and it’s no issue. Y’all will NEVER convince me Ghetto Prisoners is trash. In any capacity. We Will Survive was dope as fukk as well. I can understand why someone wouldn’t like MIMB and Kissing but those aren’t trash to me either and the hood loved them joints. You Won’t See Me Tonight was a fukking banger. Everyone wanted that to be a single at the time and shyt was bumpin all thru school. Life Is What U Make It is a banger too. I stopped really caring about alotta Nas fans opinions on his music cause I’ve heard some of the craziest shyt. Just the other day a nikka tried to tell me You Gotta Love It’s beat was trash. Smh. Great interview but I can see some of y’all dissecting the I Am & Nastradamus portion of this interview for pages.
Overall dope interview. That part where he says the world tries to rob you of your happiness. That's facts. It's also dope that Nas has been hungry musically over the past few years. The music is coming out great.

I found it funny he doesn’t remember anything but 2 songs from each of those albums. I feel like he needs to appreciate his post Illmatic catalogue a bit more and I’ve been saying it. Cause I remember at one point he used to speak extremely highly of IWW prior to his 10 year Illmatic campaign.
I think I already posted about it, but with I Am..., the first 7-8 songs are all heat. After that the album loses momentum and it becomes extremely hit and miss with "Nas Is Like" and "Undying Love" being the gems. The only other misstep is that it's not really autobiographical. Throw in songs like "Project Window", "Belly Button Window", "Poppa Was A Playa", "U Gotta Love It", and "Drunk By Myself" and remove the weaker songs from the album, it is a masterpiece.
With Nastradamus, I think that album would've worked if some songs like "Rise & Fall", "Amongst Kings", "Find Ya Wealth", "Self Conscience", "Hardest Thing To Do Is Stay Alive" are added.
