Schooling people takes forever; don't bother
I find it extremely hard to believe that Nas would seriously consider doing a group album with Ja Rule and Fat Joe…
you gotta put your mindset in 2002-03 Nas perspective tho

...Nas wanted allies against Rocafella, he probably wanted to school people on how to rap after the power 105 rant. Fat Joe was a powerhouse off the strength of Big Pun and Ja Rule was on fire at the time before 50 Cent invaded with GRODT

people have said "back during summer of 2001, Funkmaster Flex said on the radio that Jadakiss, Fat Joe, and Nas were forming a group...it may have been Ja Rule instead of Jadakiss once Nas did that Pledge (Remix) with Murder Inc...Nas was probably trying to find a new team outside of the Firm to get at Rocafella but the streets was probably not feeling it and it was dismantled after 50 cent/G-Unit came into power

Why is that?

Nas has limited to no interest in doing albums with AZ or Mobb Deep

But would do one with…not one but TWO artists VASTLY inferior to him?

Ja Rule was a superstar back then but Nas and Ja are completely different as artists and by mid to late 02 Nas was delving more into his “street poet” side and was outright dissing the formula that made Ja famous (“Throw a famous bytch on a hook and there ya go with a Platinum CD”)

And Fat Joe has NEVER attained the level of sales success, critical acclaim, or artistic respect that Nas has.

It just seems weird to me. Not impossible but certainly not probable

You're making Nas out to be some type of snob. I'm not going to go back and forth with you on this. But I don't think a group album with Joe and Ja was outside the realm of possibility.

One of the underrated aspects of the beef to me was how Jay had multiple Roc members dissing Nas, and he ate all that shyt solo and still won. Any other rapper would have folded under that assault and I wouldn’t even fault them.

The idea of 01 Nas having Fat Joe and Jada directly on his side, serving out fades? I would have loved to see it.

Snob?

nikka ain’t nothing snobbish to say that Its kind of weird that one of the GOATS and a notoriously picky with whom he works with GOAT (this isn’t a bad thing) would do an entire album with inferior artists.

Nas has never ran around doing projects with any and everybody.

The Firm (HIS crew)
QB Finest (A compilation album for his Hood)
Distant Relatives (with the son of one of the most celebrated musicians of all time)

Now where does a Fat Joe/Ja album fit in with those?

All i’m saying is it sounds rather improbable given Nas’s history and track record

not really, back in 2002 and fat joe and ja were at their peak commercially wise. nas was a big artist but he was not in a another category succesful wise. only mc wise. this is no different that than the muder inc group

I kinda felt it was obvious the Murder Inc thing was never real and was Nas trying to drive a wedge between Jay and Irv (and it worked, according to Irv). Chess moves.

Surely Irv would have mentioned it on Drink Champs before? He went into some detail on the Nas signing to Murda Inc idea so surprised he wouldn’t mention Ja, Fat Joe and Nas had started doing an album as Irv clearly loves to talk.

Having said that not out of the realms of possibility. Nas was clearly thinking despite beating the Roc dolo he needed a proper crew or more affiliates. No coincidence in 2002 post the Jay beef Nas was shouting out Fat Joe and Jada more on radio and had them in videos, and then did the whole Pledge song. He probably felt he needed a crew so as part of that Ja/ Fat Joe/ Nas album convo may have come up may have come up and had some songs done even if nothing more than that

There may be some validity to the Nas/Joe/Ja Rule album. It had nothing to do with Nas's beef with Jay or The Roc though. This was more so when 50 was going at Nas, Jada, Joe, and Ja. There were rumors that Nas was supposed to be on Ja Rule's "New York" which also featured Fat Joe.
