These are the 3 takes I've seen:
1. James just jumped to conclusions and she smiles as a sign of relief that it's over. She didn't cheat yet, but wasn't loyal either and is down to hook up with Nas.
2. James was right that she was cheating, but wrong about the place and mistook her for someone else at the fight. She smiles because she didn't actually get caught.
3. Nas is an unreliable narrator. He teases the thought of doing more than looking at her at the start of the 2nd verse. She smiles because they didn't get caught.
I always took it as either she was smiling in “shock” at all the crazines that just happened and was on the verge of a breakdown after seeing her man’s dead body.
OR
She was smiling because now that he was dead she was going to inherit whatever wealth he possessed and she was just a scandalous bytch.
