I think yall in here (me included) and other hip hop heads kind of overrate his catalog and "influence" and overall impact, in reality most people don't rank him as high as we do...but, the hip hop media and them do underrate and underappreciate him. So he's not fairly judged by either side, imo. One side says Illmatic is overrated and Takeover killed Ether...the other side says "Nasir" is a great album and "Jarreau of rap" and shyt like that is fire, lol. Both don't know how to step outside of being a fan/hater and just be objective.

Nas is by far my favorite rapper ever and it's not even close, whoever is 2nd is extremely 2nd...but objectively speaking I don't think he's a lock for Top 3 ever, all things considered. I could argue he's not a lock for Top 5 ever but my stanning won't allow me to. He has a lot of weak to average material bro, albums and singles. It's usually because the production is ass but sometimes, not often, it's him who just sounds off on certain types of songs he attempts to make, the shyt just aint good. I think a lot of people like Nas the luminary/legend more than they actually like Nas's music.

That said, when his shyt is right it's super dead right and nobody does what he does better than him.
I think the only you stated that is accurate throughout your entire paragraph is the last sentence. Other than that you are speaking nonsense:comeon:

Eh sure it's my opinion but it's fact that the mix is half assed and those beats don't fit who Nas is as a rapper. I'm just saying if that's a 4 on a scale, you grading on a curve lol. To me a 4 is a great album that has some flaws that keep it from a 4.5 or 5. I don't see an argument for Nasir being a great album, given what we know about the process and the songs. But that's opinion I guess.

I dont think the beats were bad at all but something overall about it feels rushed and like a EP of filler tracks. And I think thats what happened. Nas sat waiting to work with Kanye on it and Kanye was juggingling all these projects and just sent him out some beats to record over like days before the release (He seem to say as much in the Angie interview after it dropped and we know Kanye did Ye that way)

I dont think theres anything awful like a Big Girl or Who killed it but theres also no made you look on theifs theme

These would be ok filler tracks on a 16 cut album or something but not tracks for a Kanye/Nas EP, that needs We Major, Poppa was a playa type feels

Is it just me or is nas the most underappreciated appreciated legend by the hip hop media? Outside of illmatic. His bodies of work and impact is so underappreciated its criminal. All the artist know. They all give him his due, but hip hop media doesnt give him the props he deserves.

Feels like that more and more last few years doesnt it? Before that it felt you could run into people who fukk with Stillmatic, God Son, IWW, I am and others

He seemed secure and accepted when Life is Good dropped, hell even when Nas Album Done dropped but I think the absence, other artists like Kendrick and Jay who he might get compared to dropping great works, more and more people repeating the beat narrative thanks to Vlad (I know he wasnt the first, just the most vocal) and out of sight out of mind and its cool to shyt on him. Plus the music hipsters who are always on him bout not doing another Illmatic are more vocal on social media than ever.
