why is extreme violence so necessary
not to clown anyone but there's no need for a head getting cut off in every show
I dont care about violence in Moon Knight. I care about Marvel kiddying up already established violent franchises like Daredevil and Punisher. That's my gripe. I'm just looking at Moon Knight as a barometer of what to expect from the new rated mature Mouse that Disney has been touting as a new direction.
On the subject, I remember clowning you in the Hawkeye thread because you were clearly in your feelings about the last Ep, and saying how Fisk wasn’t THAT bad..
Daredevil is my favourite marvel show, but it has been a few years since I’d watched when season 3 dropped, I was sick for a week or so a few weeks after Hawkeye finished so decided to rewatch daredevil, lemme apologise breh..it WAS that bad lmao, with both shows now fresh in my memory I can confidently say the Fisk from daredevil would never lol, I get the violence wasn’t gonna be the same, but the writing of him in both shows is night and day, had breh in a Hawaiian shirt and a top hat (yes I know it’s from a comic) doing his dirt solo in the middle of the street like the version from DD wouldnt of had her whole family murdered from his bedroom
You can suggest he’s lost a lot of power of the last 5 years if he was dusted, but it was still odd, all of his menace was gone

Another MCU show where it seems most of the budget gets put into the first episode.
Have to say the dip was very noticable. Especially in terms of the amount of exposition. The scene with his chick on the bike was a masterclass in going overboard with explaining everything
I was reading the 2nd, 3rd and 4th episodes are of this tone. I hope things stabilize next week now we have all the story exposition complete.
And Steven is beyond whiny so far. Happy to see Marc is in control

i don't know man, i'm a fan of Oscar Isaac and I can't believe they actually got him for this show, but i don't think he's doing anything amazing so far. the setup of the character is clouding everyone's judgement. "He's playing multiple personalities, it has to be good!" there are a ton of dudes who can play a goofy paranoid "bruv" and then just... himself in the mirror. I expect the roles to get more and more bonkers as the show does on, but this feels like over-praise at the moment.
I find Ethan Hawke's performance as the mild mannered cult leader a little more compelling at the moment, ngl.

I'm not sure how I feel about this though. It definitely should be darker, and I'm not feeling Steven Grant at all. I haven't seen enough yet but it's not the charismatic, billionaire playboy. He's goofy. Hopefully, they'll introduce Jake Lockley.

Exactly, breh. I knew how bad it was because I rewatched DDs3 right before Hawkeye dropped. When kingpin first showed up, I was
waiting on mans to continue with his streak of terror from DD. Instead dude is wearing Hawaiian shirts and top hats, getting beat up by girls and getting shot in dark alleys. Why was he even there??
And that's my true issue with Marvel. The showrunners for the DD universe thought enough of their viewers intellect where they gave us a 3 season arc of a slow build, a gradual taking of power cause they knew their audience was smart enough to understand it.
But the MCU writers think that all their viewers are only as smart as a 10 year old boy and we wouldn't truly grasp a criminal mastermind having folks murdered brutally from the comforts of his bedroom. MCU writers are like "no, the fans don't want to see him ordering the hit. They want to see HIM doing the hit."
And it's like nah. That's STUPID. Dude is one of the criminal masterminds of New York but he out here doing his own dirty work with only a legion of Russian jobber bros that he can call on?
They didn't even TRY to retain the character from DD. That's why I say they are trolling us. Feige and @Bryan Danielson know what they're doing.
Watch when DD comes out. Matt is gonna be a bumbling idiot, I'm calling it now.
