That ESPN list made me dig up my old slam mag from 97 when they ranked the top 50 players. Here's who they had top 10:

Kareem has made his way up to #2 in a lot of posters eyes recently for a variety of reasons :mjpls:. Oscar, baylor and west have suffered the most out of that top 10.

But whether it's SLAM or ESPN, 1997 or 2020, one thing has been consistent: Michael Jeffrey Jordan is the GOAT. Has been the consensus GOAT for over 20 years. And that list is before he won his 6th ring.

"Someone off camera holding a phone asked Jordan if he wanted to speak with his wife. He nodded, reached for the phone, and then the scene was over, before he could speak. It was the documentary’s first direct acknowledgement that Jordan even had a wife, and it was Episode 6. Five months later, Jordan retired from basketball for the first time, citing his loss of desire for the game.

For a 10-part documentary that promised unprecedented access into Jordan’s world, that scene says it all: There is no getting to know “the real Michael Jordan.” Or, more precisely, this is who he is: an emotionally walled-off, dikkish, phenomenal basketball player who doesn’t have much to give off the court. The big question I had going into The Last Dance was, “Is there anything more to Michael Jordan than basketball?” If this documentary is the final word on his legacy, the answer is: apparently not."

Michael Jordan Is Exactly Who I Thought He Was

"When Nothing Else Matters."

:mjcry:
I feel all of that. He's the Goat but he had to program himself to be almost not human to get there.

Bird over Kareem :mjtf::mjpls:

Not only was Kareem clearly better on the court, but could you picture Larry fighting Bruce Lee or co-piloting a commercial airline? No way!

I think a lot of it is people just reading the accolades off paper. Overtime people lose context and awareness of what it was like during that time. Like people saying Kareem has 6 rings like Mike without any context of his role or dominance those seasons. They are just reading the stats\awards off paper without any research
