a) great doc

b) didn’t realize how much I hated MJ in the 90s as a teen...didn’t fukk w/ his shoes (the 5s had my eye tho)...that stupid ass “like mike” commercial...what he did to the nix...bcuz of that always rooted against him in the finals...always

c) as an adult based on what I experienced I respect him a hell of a lot more...based on his perseverance and him being perceived as an “a$$hole”...absolutely “get it” now...to top it off dude actually had a funny sense of humor...getting results allows for all that shyt...totally respect it

d) I’m gonna miss this series w/ no sports...woulda watched 20 eps

e) I’m convinced more than ever that jeffrey is reggie theus son...they ain’t even let that nikka speak for the one little segment he was in lmaooo

f) lebron is the best complete player in NBA history imo but jordan is easily the most important

One thing I caught in the doc was that outside of the influence mj's parents had on him, was the influence strong, older black men had on him. Mike mentioned how he liked having that mature voice in his life and I think it helped him a lot. Mike never moved goofy. Always seemed cool, calm, collected and measured. I think the role of older, black men helped shaped him to be like that.

This is from an article in 1999:

"But Jordan has always moved most comfortably in the company of men, specifically among his small inner circle. This is a preference, like the habit of sticking out his tongue, that he inherited from his father.

They are mostly older, mostly rural Southerners, closer in spirit to past generations than to the hip-hop kids rising up in the league. Some, like security guard Gus Lett, 61, and Nike rep Howard White, 45, have played the role of father figure, especially since James's death. ""Michael has the Southern reverence for elders,'' says Whitfield, who is five years older than Jordan. "

Mj's Court

You also had his main man ahmad constantly around him. Then you had quinn buckner popping up out of nowhere every championship in mj's hotel room. I think a lot of these sensitive players today lack any type of older male guidance and that's why they move like sensitive, attention starved kids.
This is a great point

I loved seeing the relationship with Gus and Gus getting sick and missing time, comes back for Gm 7 ECF and MJ gives him the game ball.

Gus was like "that's alright....that's alright" :mjcry:

I love the exchange afterwards too

MJ: You know I had to bring out my ace in the hole to win this one :myman:

Gus: :smugbiden:

MJ: That's why we been strugglin...cuz yo ass ain't around no more :stopitslime:

Gus: :heh:

MJ: Might have to bring you to Utah :leostare::birdman:

Gus: :patrice::why:

Sounds like Ho Grant always thought he was better than he was. He seemed to think it shoulda been a big 3 in Chicago. But he was treated like the replaceable role player he was. Mike didn't even bring up the plane and food. Now he actin like he want a fair one. Does he know what would happen to him for some Space Jams :mjtf:. Wouldn't even need to put bread out there.

Pippen always been a weirdo. Just look at his thot wife. That migraine and him refusing to come back in were a part of Bulls history. They gave him an opportunity to take show regret and he doubled down on it.
You act like a penis expert on a message board and you have the nerve to call Pippen a weirdo?

All true.

I DON’T however think that. Scottie should be “blamed” for the Migraine. I mean its a fukking MIGRAINE. Them shyts are soul shattering at their worst.
Oh most definitely not. I would never point the finger at anyone for injuries or migraines. I've heard stories about severe migraines. But Scottie did hold off surgery for an injury that needed repair. That he holds blame on.

for a dude who was the ultimate sidekick, Pippen moved like a weirdo. Signed that trash deal right before the Bulls gravy train pulled up and he was never the same, despite the chips. Jewy Reinsdorf finessed him and told any player trying to renegotiate to kick rocks. Pippen’s agent needs a kick to the face.

Reinsdorf is a piece of shyt, but he told Scottie not to sign that deal. It was stuoid on his part. MJ woulda still been underpaid if he didn't get those huge 1yr deals.

I think I'm the 16000th post or round about :mindblown:

I never watched basketball like that so I haven't been there watching with everyone but the way people talk... :lupe: I've seen bits and pieces of episodes and it always seems like the typical sports doc. Imma catch it after I finish something else I'm binging
