A part of me wished they kept him alive even though it prolly would have thrown off the entire film. He would have been great rival character to keep around like Loki/Zuko/Vegeta.

he could've done the same thing he did with Buckey.

Remember T'Challa was near death and they gave him the heart shape herb. He could've crossed over but decided to go back. Maybe the herb allows the option of living or dying depending on the severity of your injuries.

But then again, it's assumed King T'Chaka was BP before he was killed

Yeah the MCU is full of fake deaths, that can easily bring dude back. It might hurt the overall artistic integrity of the first film but in the long run Killmonger could be epic paired along with the likes of Doom or Namor.
