the movies are getting more story dense which is good imo
but some execs still like shorter movies because you get more showing in theaters so it's a fight between creatives and execs
bob chapek wanted them to make thor 4 under 2 hours so it's 1 hr and 59 minutes long

They shorten them because of Disney+ and Covid.

This movie will be on Disney+ by mid to late December.

Longer movies mean less showings and less tickets sold and Avatar comes out a few weeks later which will take some of those screens.

So why are Disney doing this? :mjpls:

Now I'm by no means a fan of the direction of this movie with regards to it's elimination of a non dysfunctional lead black male.

But if the runtime is true that's Disney execs again trying to sabotage a so called black IP, this after they've already gentrified it :mjpls:

Not everything is a conspiracy breh.

If the plot details are true, a 2hr film would have been a disaster. 3hrs should be enough time to give the story room to breathe, and Avatar itself will probably be close to 3 hrs. Theaters generally shave off showings and rooms of other films and give more times to big blockbusters.

None of Marvel's films have crossed a billion this year. BP is already a proven 1billion dollar IP. They are not going sabotage that.

the unbolded is true
but what the heck are you saying in the bolded:pachaha:
they made the movie longer because they're confident it'll make it's money regardless of showtimes

Disney don't give a damn about no story or it's quality breh :mjlol:

If they did half of the Marvel movies would not have been released.

They are not trying to win awards with these movies.

That doesn't make sense when they shortened Doc Strange and Thor.

It would make sense for them to keep a shorter run time to Maximize the earnings.

Disney don't give a damn about no story quality.

both thor and dr.strange didn't make a billion by themselves
this movie is a special case because it's one of the few solo marvel films that made a billion and the whole thing with Chadwick dying
they believe this film will make it's money back and then some
I don't understand why you think making a longer movie will kill the box office.
are you not going to see it because it's 30 min longer than the first one? do you know someone who isn't?
