Marvel's 'Black Panther' Sequel Shoot to Begin in July (Exclusive) | Hollywood Reporter

Multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Marvel is now readying Black Panther 2 for a shoot that will start in Atlanta in July and last for upwards of six months.

Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta, who was one of the stars of Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico, is in talks to play one of the antagonists, sources tell THR. Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke and Angela Bassett are expected to return for the new feature, with some saying Wright’s character may take on a more prominent role.

Marvel, which had no comment on this story, has not revealed its plans on how it plans to proceed without Boseman, although it has indicated that it will not use CGI to include the late star in the film.

They haven’t really had any Mexican/Latino leads in the MCU so if he IS Namor that could be another drop in the diversity bucket for them.

yea i just assume he's a big Mexican actor and they get more international appeal. not like they ever miss on casting.

... or he could be "Henchman #3" b/c every time there is a MCU casting these type of sites immediately put out "Is he Doom?!" clickbait

This likely means that they are keeping the same script (with a few minor changes possibly) and we will get a recast since Black Panther was originally suppose to film around March to May 2021 anyway. It would take way longer to start filming if they were actually rewriting the script with Shuri as the lead cuz then they will have to completely rewrite the script and scrap all of the preproduction (such as costumes, sets and concept arts) which will be impossible to do by July 2021 without the film looking rushed. Disney won’t outright say that they are recasting due to Boseman’s recent death but all evidence so far points towards them going forward with a recast.
