Honesltly anyone who watched him in Europe would be able to tell he wasn’t going to be a bust. He wasn’t out here playing 10 minutes a game like a lot of other Euro prospects, he was dominating the second best professional league in the world at 19 years old.

The biggest issue I had with him was the speed of the game but he’s adjusted better than I thought he would and another offseason of nba coaching and he’ll likely drop some weight and come back quicker. Lad has bags of potential.

:mjlol:The hot takes will continue I see. :pachaha:It's still way to early to tell if Trae Young or Doncic will be a bust. :dead:We are literally thirteen games in. This thread should be locked and opened up after the season.

Except you've been mad all throughout this thread.
Being critical isn't being mad
He's a special player.

19 year olds aren't supposed to be this offensively honed and diverse. It's not even that dude is skilled, but how refined his game is. He gets to spots, his footwork is already very good compared to his peers, he has the 3 pointer, mid range, and can finish at the hoop. Traffic and contact don't seem to bother him too much at the rim. He can run PnR (not superb at it right now, but that'll come). Has excellent passing skills. Generally has a great feel for the game and is a WILLING passer and playmaker. He's not distributing and passing because he gets locked down in iso and it's a shot clock bailout, he actually makes the right pass a lot of the time. Swings it when needed and keeps a ball movement offense going and his teammates in rhythm. Also has the skillset to iso in sets if needed.

All of this at 19. Breh just looks extremely poised and in control of so many aspects of the game that most of his peers have a tenuous grasp on at best. You're tripping if you honestly think there's nothing special about his game.

All that you typed makes him special cause he's 19? To be able to do those things is fundamental basketball lol

I won't get started on Luka iso but please pay more attention. Hesitation dribbles and some fakes that usually ends in a step back 3 or a pass.

He shoots a lot better than I thought he would and is crafty. I personally don't think he makes anyone on the floor better and that's capable of changing over time but to me he's a big addition, along with DeAndre and we're a worst team. He's putting up numbers on a trash team.

But yes he will get better and he has a long leash.

We can gon head and lock this thread really. Luka isn't a bust and there's nothing special about his game.
I think he'll be good. I dont know about being a star, tho.

In today's NBA where the game is far less physical it's easier for European league players to come in and shine . Unlike before where they had the skills but lacked the physicality to handle NBA type defense (See Toni Kukoc).

But at the same time i expect Trae Young to be a star because his game translates well into the league whereas Luka will still need to adjust. I see reaching Goran Dragic type success if he stays healthy. Basically a good player, should be all-star but not quite a STAR. That's my moderate expectations. Worst case scenario he'll just be a decent starter. Best case scenario...Dirk-like success. Nothing more.

But as i always say.."wait and see" :manny:
We've seen many come in hot and fall on their faces (Glen Robinson). We've seen some come in, blow up , and come back down or even Crash and burn (Michael Redd). ANd let's not forget injuries (Penny Hardaway, Nick Anderson)

Every Kentucky wing/guard outside of Wall and Booker
Wiggins???

Just off the top of my head. List goes on and on. Guys that were super hyped out of HS and/or had monster final seasons/NCAA tourney runs.

Most of those guys couldn't do the "basic" or "fundamental" things I listed and you're referring to, breh.

Luka at 19 already has a more polished game and can score at the NBA level better than almost all of those guys when they came into the league.

If we clown all those guys above for being busts and not living up to the hype, I don't see how Luka is "nothing special."

He played extremely well at the end of the Lakers and TWolves games on the offensive end, breh. He was knocking down shots late in the 4th and the moment didn't look too big for him. At all.

He hustles on defense and for loose balls. He generates extra possessions. He stays active even when he's not scoring or running the offense. He doesn't need to be coached up on these things or a vet to pull him aside and take him under his wing. He just does it.

He's got flaws. He's not perfect. He's not the second coming of MJ. But let's keep it 100 and not be foolish here. He's better at a LOT of things that most rookies/sophomores struggle with.

Hell, he's a better player than DSJ already.

I stay in this thread shytting on you and Trae every chance I get.

You and static are the only ones I remember getting super emotional about this

You not liking the truth and getting emotional doesn't move me like that, sorry

Trae has elite vision and can get to the basket easily. Once he realizes he isn’t Steph and stops chucking 3s he will develop into an all star.
This isn't true at all. He struggles heavily getting to the rim and gets blocked all the time

He's painfully unathletic and unexplosive

Kukoc dominated overseas, doggy. He was just a good starter in the NBA making (i think) just one all-star appearance in the NBA

Dirk was a huge success in the league yes but he was never on some "face of the league" type shyt because he came into his own in the Shaq/Kobe era and again was second tier in the LeBron era despite beating Lebron in the finals. He was a super-star but still was second chair to KG, Duncan, LeBron and the likes. Notice im talking in terms of star power. I'd probably take him over KG but thats probably me hating on KG since he joined the Celtics
