This was the worst episode by far.
Derailed the entire plot to insert this anachronistic, "women's empowerment" narrative.
I been wondering from jump why Hippolyta would even question her husband being killed doing this job, especially when they already established he had a permanent limp because some cacs destroyed his kneecaps doing this dangerous greenbook shyt.
But somehow, with women's intuition, Hippolyta just KNOWS the gang is lying to her about George.
So finally, on a whim, she manages to drive all the way to Ardham with apparently 0% difficulty.
Nevermind that Tic and the gang almost died twice trying to get there and only survived with magic cacette intervention, this is Hippolyta we're talking about.
I guess them racist cacs saw a Black woman and her daughter driving through unescorted and thought "Wow, it would be really rude to harass these Negro women in their travels. Let's leave them unmolested and hope they arrive at their destination in good health "
Okay, let's buy all that.

Apparently, Hiram- evil, cracker, magic-man that was kidnapping Blacks for his human experimentation- built a time-machine that could be completely deciphered/operated with mathematics/physics alone and didn't need any of that magic-language shyt Tic and them are struggling with for it to work.
If Hiram had access to/developed such advanced technology that he could travel through time/dimensions...why was he bothering with magic at all? Cracker already got the keys to the universe, what's the point in trying to figure out some dead language that turns you to stone if you fukk it up???
Okay, fine, let's roll with it.

But then Atticus manages to jump in just in time to save Hippolyta from the cops Sheriff Lancaster had keeping tabs on the place.... Am I to believe Atticus caught a bus that could make the trip from St. Louis, Missouri to Troy, Kansas in less than 5 hours, in 1950? And then when he made it to the bus station in Kansas City, he bought a map, caught a taxi, and arrived just in time to save his aunt? As a Black man? In the 1950's?
Okay, fine.

But then, during the struggle with the cops, one gets thrown into a portal and the other gets shot dead...and they decide to just leave him there? After they just threw his partner in the fukking wormhole?
I guess they both just had brainfarts.
Okay, fine.

Hippolyta travels through the portal and is being held hostage by SuperNegro Robobytch and somehow manages to hack this space-tech room.
And in response SNRB decides to reward her for fukking up her Space-Ikea coffee table? :usure:
By sending her on a magical vision-quest?? :what:
And the first place Hippolyta wants to go is on stage with Josephine Baker??? :gucci:
Hippolyta's dream of freedom is to strip alongside a woman whose claim to fame is shaking her titties for snooty cacs???? :scust:
And then when Hippolyta gets transported to Dahomey to train with the warrior women, she manages to defeat the instructor after one sparring session?????:comeon:
And finally, in what is probably the most annoyingly anachronistic and agenda-driven sequence, Hippolyta interrogates the ghost of her husband about how she didn't live up to her own expectations and that's somehow his fault??????:why:
And then George's ghost agrees with her??????? :mjtf:

Look, I be wanting to like and support Black artistic expression. Especially in television where so often and for so long we're relegated to side-characters, tokens, and racist tropes. But it's really hard to be supportive when the medium gets used to pump out this kind of shallow, propagandistic faux-woke perspective.
:francis:

damn all of this on point. :salute:

After this explanation, yeah, the show is terrible... especially after this episode.

I tried watching it twice and still couldn’t care enough or focus enough on it... it just made zero sense to me.

This show has one solid episode then proceeds to have one trash episode. The storytelling isn’t cohesive at all... like is this an Anthology or what?

This show is like Rick N Morty without the funny shyt, racism being the main theme, and male ass rape. It’s all over the place.

Like someone said above... I’m just watching to see how things tie up in the end because if its still this jumbled mess then this show is getting a neg review and bushed

Its like they were sitting in the writers room and said...let's showcase some great black women throughout history.
And then shoehorned it all in there even tho it made 0 sense to do it.

Since you all wanna bytch all the time how about no more black shows on HBO and let's give em to Hispanics

It being a black show shouldn't excuse it for bullshyt. And this show has too much bullshyt in it.
If this show had the cast of GOT youd be on a whole other note and not accepting some of this nonsensical bad writing

No one seems to be taking note that Tic also went somewhere. He could have gone back in time a few hours and that may have given him time to come back and save Hippolyta. Possibly she gets killed in the original timeline. Maybe she changes the timeline somehow, because the Lovecraft Country Book Tic pulled out his pocket was written by George Freeman.
Was this time travel though?

The first “leap” could have been real but each one after seemed to be closer to holodeck illusions. African warriors vs Confederate soldiers.
