Revisionist history would have you think MOS and BVS were some kind of masterpiece but those movies were terrible and lambasted at the time of release.

DC could easily be contending with the marvel movies if they just take the mfs who write the scripts for the animated movies they produce and have them do it for the live action ones. Justice League doom would have been a blockbuster had that been live action.

now that i looked it up i see why that movie was good dwyane mcduffie wrote the script for that one.
