If they had to cut that much, how good could it have been in the first place. Especially since they're filming new scenes.
To me it seems WB saw the original and thought it was ass, so they salvaged what they could. The original probably didn't test well. And because they were all on Marvel's nut's they knew the product would get killed compared to Infinity War which dropped a year later.
I think they are basically trying to make a brand new movie.

I prefer her more than Emergency Awesome. She has strong opinions while this guy is all about getting along to maintain access. He never says anything remotely controversial.
