80s one didn't suck but the last one did

I'm ready for this one... Love horror/science fiction anthologies

As for the 80s Twilight Zone, loved the episode with Morgan freeman and Garrett Morris, Dealer's Choice about the devil playing cards for a soul

Yep the 80s version was actually good. Like the story of the secret of life. Where the people go crazy when hearing the secret.

Or the mom with the stop watch.

The main issue with the later versions like the 2000s they were scared to take chances with the stories. No ironic lessons and social statements.

Thats what made the especially the 60s and at times the 80s version so hard core.

And it can be done cause the reboot outer limits was even better than the original.

Rod Sterling was TRULY brilliant. Still watch the originals to this day. The guy was just plain gifted. This is why all the Twighlight Zone remakes created afterwards failed... because they didnt have a person at the helm as talented as Rod.

This could be different.. because if theres anyone who could fxck with Rod Sterling its Peele. We have brilliance at the helm this time around.

Yeah rod had a consciousness and knew how to weave social issues into his stories.

There was so much censorship in the 60s and he had to figure out ways to talk about issues in his stories.

Like how he couldn't talk about racism straight out. So he makes an episode about Hitler being a shadow spreading hate. Or a story about how the world is so filled with hate that it gets darker and darker eventually consuming the world.

The craziest one and which is even scary to this day is the one about people in the future being deemed obsolete. The obsolete man it was called. That is to this day a hell of an episode.

Then his ending narration

"The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshiped. Any state, any entity, any ideology which fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete. A case to be filed under "M" for "Mankind" - in The Twilight Zone."

Got damn....:banderas:

It's really hard to do shows like this because it's hard to have that weekly shock value. There's so much competition for these writers too. They turn old Twilight Zone and Amazing Stories shows into MOVIES nowadays.

\My absolute favorite episode. My other one is the one about a society in which everyone has to get surgery as an adult to look like a model. Number 12 something
