I'm fine with this. I have hated their approach to boxing for years now.
I remember when there use to be some sort of prestige to be a "HBO" fighter, or just to be on the network. It was almost like a fighter "made it."
HBO has just done a real poor job maintaining relationships, getting the best talent, poor quality control, allowing anyone on the network, relying on the PPV format, etc.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if they attempt another come back years from now.

I will say this...PBC/Showtime or nikkas that stan PBC can't use HBO as a crutch/excuse anymore why it hasnt leveled up or lived up its to its potental...no more HBO ratings being >>> PBC .Showtime ratings (outside of Broner), no more seeing HBO airing the best fight of the year in 7-8 of the last 10 fight of the years and barring a miracle, and HBO fight will top 2018's best fight of the year..in 2019 its do or die time..time for them to correct these mistakes...no more shoddy matchmaking, no more inactive fighters, more effort into marketing these fighters, creating a fighter or fighters that can crossover into mainstream..danny garcia is a supposed star but hes getting ratings that miguel vazquez was getting on hbo latino on sat afternoon 
HBO will attempt a comeback to boxing for sure..that i agree with @theflyest ...the subscription numbers will tell the real story in the following months lol...Peter Nelson is not a boxing guy..far from it like he proclaims to be..and possibly the second he is ousted from that position..the shyt will be set in motion to be back on the network

Boxing is always underestimated, because it's not a mainstream sport. It's a niche sport that does very well.
I'm so glad that "boxing is dying" talk is over.
Apparently HBO wants Canelo to fight one last time on ppv before they get out
It used to be a mainstream sport when Tyson ruled the world. It was like the biggest event in sports when he fought. He had Japan crowd so fukking loud..standing ovation for that short ass fight
exactly...boxing will never die..and HBO boxing has been synonymous with mainstream boxing for the longest.its going to be interesting who is going to pick up that mantle now
When ATT brought Time Warner i knew that boxing was gonna get cut. The cac CEO put HBO on notice and they are cutting alot of programming to maximize stock holders assets.
They are about to trim alot of stuff out of Turner Broadcastings budget too. I hope NBA on TNT is sage

BREAKING NEWS: Middleweight world titleholder Billy Joe Saunders has failed a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association drug test for the banned substance oxilofrine, a stimulant, multiple sources with knowledge of the test results told ESPN on Thursday. Saunders is preparing for an Oct. 20 defense against Demetrius Andrade in Boston but that is likely to be canceled and Saunders is likely to be stripped of his 160-pound world title.
This stupid motherfukker couldn't keep on the straight and narrow for once!!!!..first the other bullshyt and now this..I got tickets for this shyt

This might be a smart move for the network overall. Maybe if Floyd comes back there will be another huge PPV but the economics seem like margins are tight as hell otherwise. Showtime paying dudes 1-3 million and barely getting ratings, casuals that I know literally not even knowing a fight is scheduled and stuff like that
It seems like the networks who are trying to invest now are trying to subsidize boxing for whatever reason. I doubt that the Dazn, ESPN, or Showtime deals will make a ton of money for those networks
