First Look At Art Of Godzilla Resurgence Releasedd

Godzilla is back -- and more or less the way you remember him!

Godzilla fansite Skreeonk has released a first look at concept art from Godzilla: Resurgence, TOHO's first new Godzilla movie since 2004s Godzilla: Final Wars.

The pages feature initial concepts by Mahiro Maeda (前田 真宏 Maeda Mahiro), an acclaimed artist best known for his animation work, per Skreeonk. They were submitted to the site by a fan who apparently has early access to the August book The Art of Shin Godzilla Resurgence.

This isn't the first time that a look at Godzilla has leaked online during the run-up to Resurgence. Early looks at the character came in the form of unauthorized images on social media, which TOHO later essentially verified when they released a trailer for the film.

Even though Gareth Edwards' Godzilla did well enough to ensure that the U.S. franchise will continue for the time being, Japan's TOHO is making a new Godzilla movie for the behemoth's native market as well.

That also means it will beat Universal and Legendary's 2018 installmentto theaters, with a U.S. release teased but no official details yet available. Meanwhile, Legendary's take is going nuclear (no pun intended, introducing King Kong into the franchise and pitting the two iconic monsters against one another.

God Warrior Appears in Tokyo filmmakers Hideaki Anno and Shinji Higuchi are co-directing Godzilla: Resurgence, based on a script written by Anno.

Godzilla: Resurgence is scheduled to be released in Japan on July 29, 2016 in IMAX, 4DX, and MX4D formats.

The official press release…

May 19, 2016 — You can’t keep a good giant monster down, especially when he’s being very, very bad! Kraken Releasing is proud to continue the tradition of releasing the very best in kaiju (giant monster) entertainment with the first U.S. release of the complete and uncut THE RETURN OF GODZILLA® (aka GODZILLA™ (1984))! Available on both Blu-ray and DVD, and featuring both the original Japanese version with English subtitles, as well as an English dubbed version, this special release is the Godzilla® epic that fans and collectors have been waiting for.

With a higher budget and more advanced special effects than any previous film in the series, THE RETURN OF GODZILLA® returns Japan’s greatest monster to his intended role as an epic force of destruction and the film’s spectacular success re-launched the Godzilla® franchise after nearly a decade in suspended animation.

Unfortunately for North American audiences, this direct sequel to the original 1954 feature film has previously only been available in a highly edited version that cut over twenty minutes of original footage and effects, changed key plot points and altered the dark dramatic tone and narrative by inserting additional scenes and humor in an attempt to “Americanize” the film. But now, at long last, the acclaimed kaiju masterpiece finally hits American shores in all its uncut original glory! Get ready for the biggest Godzilla® epic that you’ve never seen as Kraken Releasing unleashes the complete and unedited THE RETURN OF GODZILLA®!

THE RETURN OF GODZILLA® will be released on September 13th.

fukk King Kong... Even for giant monsters, that shyt was stupid... At least Mothra, despite I dislike him, gave Gawdzilla some Ls that made sense...
I hear the TOHO version is going to change throughout the movie which is why he's looking like that. I'm interested either way :wow:
Dont listen to these dudes.. Hes been depicted wit a big ass tail that he uses as a weapon & lets flop around numerous times... Hes been depicted in "nuclear glowing" form multiple times... He does this shyt regularly... He dont give a fukk what building his tail crushes as he strolls through...
Ghidorah gonna be in this, or sitting on the throne in a post credit scene? :lupe:
:sadcam:
Ghidorah the gawd is just the GOAT monster villain :ahh:
Origins
King Ghidorah has a different origin in every series.

In the Showa series, King Ghidorah is said to have attacked Venus under his own power many thousands of years ago, wiping out the planet's entire civilization. He later attacked Earth, but was repelled by Earth's monsters. At some point, he was taken control of by the Xiliens and used as a pawn in their invasion of Earth. King Ghidorah was destined to be taken control of by different alien races, losing his history on the way. The Garogas later claimed to have created King Ghidorah, but whether this is true or not is never definitively explained, given the monster's ancient history.

n Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah, King Ghidorah is part of a scheme by time-traveling terrorists known as the Futurians to destroy Japan in the past to prevent it from becoming a global economic superpower. He is the result of the Futurians placing three genetically-engineered creatures from the future called Dorats on Lagos Island in the year 1944. In 1954, the Dorats were exposed to the Castle Bravo hydrogen bomb test conducted at nearby Bikini Atoll, which caused them to merge and mutate into King Ghidorah. According to the novelization of the film, the Dorats were engineered using DNA recovered from the corpse of another King Ghidorah found on the surface of Venus, suggesting that like in the Showa series King Ghidorah is originally an alien creature, but the one featured in the film is simply a clone of him.
In
Rebirth of Mothra III, King Ghidorah, a more powerful relative of Desghidorah, arrived on the Earth millions of years ago and caused the Cretaceous extinction. He returned to Earth in the present in order to feed off of humans, especially children.
In
Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, King Ghidorah is reinvented as a heroic monster for the first, and so far only, time. In this film, King Ghidorah is the God of the Sky and one of the three Guardian Monsters, along with Mothra and Baragon. An ancient Yamata no Orochi, an eight-headed dragon from Japanese mythology, King Ghidorah was slain by Japanese warriors thousands of years ago and laid to rest underneath Mount Fuji. The warriors prayed for King Ghidorah's soul, and over the next several centuries he slowly regenerated, empowered by the souls of Japan's honorable dead. However, he was awakened before he could grow back all eight of his heads, instead growing only three.

Ghidorah a beast, but personally I want to see a updated Destroyah "The Oxygen Destroyer", glowing horn crushing shyt, My 2nd favorite monster overall... I wanna see how Rodan gon look... Wit the new technology imagine how Hedorah (sp??) "The Smog Monster" could be done... These monsters got so much potential... :banderas:

Since the first trailer for Godzilla: Resurgence dropped earlier this year, there’s been a swell of interest that even I, a self-designated Godzilla fanatic, didn’t see coming. Sure, the movie looked crazy and entertaining in a uniquely garrulous way, but it’s not like the movie looked to feature deep character or even poetic imagery in the same vein as Gareth Edward‘s masterful American take on the god-lizard. The film simply appeared to be enjoyably trashy in the way many recent takes onGodzilla have been, with the notable exception of Roland Emmerich‘s unwatchable version from the late 90s.

The latest trailer for the movie, however, ups the ante to a point where this movie looks to be one of the most promising science-fiction bonanzas getting released this year. In this version, which comes from the Philippines and which you can take a look at right below, the destruction that Godzilla causes can be seen full-scale, complete with purple lasers, blood showers, crumbling buildings, and a big swinging tail just barely missing a crowd of Japanese citizens. And this latest reminder that nothing beats a good monster movie comes with an added bonus, as news out of San Diego Comic-Con is that Godzilla: Resurgence will enjoy a stateside release before the end of 2016 via Funimation. The Japanese cut of the film look to run just short of two hours at 118 minutes, and if it’s 118 minutes of what is on display in this trailer, I am beyond in.

A cause unknown, an accident has occurred in the tunnels of the Tokyo Bay Aqua Line, causing an emergency cabinet meeting to convene. Immediately afterwards, a huge creature appears, destroying town after town with its landing reaching the capital. The mysterious giant organism named Godzilla.

Anyone heard of any reviews for the new movie yet?

Critical reception
Shin Godzilla received positive reviews from critics.[17][44][46] The special effects and new depiction of Godzilla were praised but the film was criticized for its long scenes and confusing dialogue between the politicians, military, and authorities, and introducing too many characters and subplots.[17] Japanese pop culture site RO65 called the film a "masterpiece of unprecedented filmmaking", feeling that the film retains a "strong respect for the fundamental message within Godzilla".[47][46] Oricon Style praised directors Hideaki Anno's and Shinji Higuchi's realistic approach and the film's reality vs. idealism themes, calling the film a "world class" Godzilla film.[48][46] Cinema Today called the film a "thrilling experience" and a "masterpiece", feeling that the film was a return to form similar to 2004's Dawn of the Dead.[49][46] Kazuo Ozaki from Eiga.com praised the film as well, stating, "Hollywood, even with all its money, can’t approach this kind of perfection"[16] while Koichi Irikura from Cinema Today called it a "birth of a masterpiece that boldly announces the revival of a Japanese Godzilla".[16] Brian Ashcraft from Kotaku felt the film was a "letdown", though he praised the film's special effects and social reflection of Japan, he criticized the film's depiction of the human characters, stating, "I wish the movie explored the relationships between the politicians and the researchers more instead of glossing over it" and concluded that "This isn’t one of the best Godzilla films ever made, but it’s certainly not one of the worst by any stretch, either. Godzilla Resurgence is a series of compelling ideas in a so-so Godzilla movie."[50] Ollie Barder from Forbes was surprised at "how good" the film was, praising Anno's classic Gainax motifs and the film's realistic depiction of Japan's "inept and corrupted" government, stating that the film is a "searing indictment of how the 2011 Tohoko earthquake and tsunami as well as the Fukushima disaster were mishandled by the Japanese administration". Though he was not completely fond of Godzilla's new design, feeling that the "googly" eyes made Godzilla look silly, Barder did feel that the design was more "organic and menacing" than previous incarnations and praised the film's depiction of Godzilla, stating, "I really liked the way Godzilla is handled in this new movie, as it feels a lot more like the God Soldier short that both Anno and Higuchi worked on" and concluded by stating that he "really enjoyed" the film and that it had a "far more coherent plot" than 2014's Godzilla.[51]

It was also a huge box office success.

Box office
Shin Godzilla earned ¥625 million on its opening weekend[17] and was number one at the box office for that weekend, placing Finding Dory at second place and One Piece Film: Gold at third place, and earned 23% more than 2014's Godzilla when it opened in Japan.[43] It was more than triple the first weekend's gross of 2004's Godzilla: Final Wars, the previous Toho film in the series, which in the end grossed US$12.3 million.[43] The film continued to remain number one at the box office during its second weekend and is projected to finish at US$40 million domestically.[44] The film dropped to second place at the box office during its third weekend, topped by The Secret Life of Pets, earning US$33.5 million after 17 days, topping the estimates for both 2004's Godzilla: Final Wars and 2014's Godzilla.[45]

Japan's Godzilla: Resurgence will invade US this Fall

p9-schilling-shingodzilla-a-20160804.jpg

Godzilla is coming! Despite Hollywood’s attempts, Japan is still the world’s leader in giant monster film making.

Godzilla: Resurgence (a.k.a. Shin Godzilla in Japanese) is Toho’s 29th Godzilla themed motion picture. It has lit up Japanese box office to become 2016’s live action gross champion. American audience will have a chance to see this spectacular movie in theaters this fall, but only for a limited time (October 11-18).

Audience will be able to see this movie in 440 theaters. If you don’t speak Japanese, the English subtitles will help a lot. Tickets will be on sale one month before U.S. premiere, and you can order them at Funimation Films website starting on September 9th.

Curious what this movie is all about? Check out how Funimation Films sums up the King of the Monsters latest trip to Tokyo:

It’s a peaceful day in Japan when a strange fountain of water erupts in the bay, causing panic to spread among government officials. At first, they suspect only volcanic activity, but one young executive dares to wonder if it may be something different… something alive. His worst nightmare comes to life when a massive, gilled monster emerges from the deep and begins tearing through the city, leaving nothing but destruction in its wake. As the government scrambles to save the citizens, a rag-tag team of volunteers cuts through a web of red tape to uncover the monster’s weakness and its mysterious ties to a foreign superpower. But time is not on their side—the greatest catastrophe to ever befall the world is about to evolve right before their very eyes.
