In the books the dragons werent supposed to go past the wall I believe.

I thought something with Bran going past the wall w/ everything w the 3 eyed raven was gonna undo the magic of the wall and allow the whitewalkers to overtake it.

Also killing off the whitewalkers off so early and the night king was dumb as hell. I also hated Jon not getting a final showdown and letting Arya get the death blow since they had been building up all series and Jon had almost been chasing him down

This guy gets it. I was really disappointed with the direction of Bran's arc. Also agree with it should have been Jon not Arya.

On this white walk mission episode. The stupidity of this mission, the light speed raven and Dany travel, Gendry doing usain bolt sorintbsoeeds the whole way back to East watch...wtf was this :why:
I never understand the urgency with the White Walkers. They seemed to have no way to get past the wall in any efficient way. Going over there with a dragon was like a remedy to the White Walkers problem. lol

Even without the dragon, they could’ve passed the wall given bran broke the spell. I would’ve assumed they just would’ve gone thru the gates of East watch - the few wildlings guarding it couldn’t have stopped that army.

but damn, the pacing of this season makes the dumb writing even worse. To me, season 6 was about the best way to pick up the pace. This show needed at least 3 more full seasons (9 seasons total)

No it wasn't fine:what:
What do you think wasnt? I’d agree for the most part, the events are fine, they just sucked due to rushed pacing and the way that completely broke the rules of the world and made characters act out of character so they could quickly get to the point and resolution.

Like the Arya, Sansa, Little Finger thing makes sense as far as a story line, their execution of the story line was terrible tho

The bolded is what was everything wrong. The show was GOAT at story telling and character development and they completely butchered it. Nothing was fine about that last season. Story telling was horrible, and the characters they developed for so long got thrown out the window.

He said the storylines/plot were fine - I agree. How they got there wasn’t fine, those are two different things.

And his comment was about season 7, not the last season. Even if it were about the last season, the plot points were fine, they butchered their way there tho and it ruined what had been established ahead of time - not because the story ahead was implausible or bad (outside of bran being king), but because they didn’t give it the time it needed to develop to that point

In addition to how stupid their Suicide Squad mission was, the plotline in Winterfell was also awful.

Season seven: 7 episodes
Season eight: 6 episodes

I'm amazed HBO let those clowns speed through that shyt to chase a Disney bag (Star Wars, a project that was ultimately cancelled lmao). They should have done anything to secure full seasons. That would have resulted in seven additional episodes (3 in S7, 4 in S8) and even with their wack ass writing I think they would have pulled it off better with additional time to set up the end game. It could have also given them the ability to further flesh out some storylines or add additional ones.

Imagine if S7 featured a longer "beyond the wall" journey across multiple episodes, making it feel like an actual story arc instead of the videogame bullshyt we got. You could even end it the same (dumb) way and it would have landed better and felt less stupid. Same thing in S8 if they actually had time to develop the Kings Landing arc, add some of those small council meeting scenes of plotting, establish Dany's deteriorating mental state more, etc. You'd still be left with shytty decisions on Arya and Bran but maybe they land better with more time to develop.
