just a little backstory on the lannisters and this sword tho. tywin lannister always wanted a valyrian steel sword for his house. the lannisters had one called brightroar but one of the lannisters ancestors sailed to valyria with it and he never came back, presumed dead. one of tyrion's uncles sailed to valyria to find it and he never came back either. there are very few remaining in westeros and he always tried to buy one off but nobody ever wanted to sell it cause having one is a great honor. the starks had ice, the mormonts had longclaw which lord commander mormont gave to jon snow in season 1(so the starks still have one ), the targaryens had darksister and blackfyre but both are lost, sam tarly's father has heartsbane, some house called house corbray has lady forlorn, house harlaw(one of the houses from the iron islands, theon's mother's house) has nightfall, house celtigar(a northern house) has a valyrian steel axe. there are a few other weapons of valyrian steel out there like knives and arrowheads and theres even some dothraki dude with a valyrian steel arakh(which in the books, thats what jamie's hand got cut off with but they cut that character out and replaced him with locke).
