No, fukk the Lannisters. Tyrion is the only real nikka from the family. Tywin and Jamie get props for their battle prowess and intellect I suppose, but they are all bytch made and are the Westeros equivalent of our rich elite fukkers that screw over everyone.

Yup, but like many said ... Ned's death was important for many reasons. Most importantly it is to let readers know that this story isn't just about good vs evil or anything cliche of the sort ... like Cersai said, Game of Thrones, you win or you die. Most people reading or watching the show probably didn't have that register in them until Ned got killed - the most honorable and "good" character in the show unceremoniously killed by the orders of a incest coward boy king.
It is a beautiful ugly, this story.
Tywin decided to lose position and save the capital. If he lost the capital the Lannisters would lose everything.
Tywin teams up with House Tyrell along the way. Loras decides to don Renly's armor to kill enemy morale. And since a good chunk of Stannis' ranks were Renly's men in the first place, it worked.
In the books though, Loras wasn't the one to don his armor, it was another Tyrell brother.
