I was on board with the decision to cut fAegon from the show at first, but in hindsight they should have included him. There is a hole in the structure of the story that they've tried to fill in with Cersei and elements of Jon/Sansa, but it hasn't worked.
I think had they included his character in season 5, connected his subplot to Tyrion/Dorne/Varys/, and given full seasons to 7 and 8, then they could have finished with season 9 in 2020 or 2021 and the story would have been fleshed out much better.
It wouldn't have even been that many more episodes either. 17 more episodes across two years. Still plenty enough time to get started on Star Wars.
