Just a thought but I wonder if Thrones could have gotten away with "pausing" the show, and putting the burner on GRRM for more source material, and creating something on the side to fill the gap. I mean S7 to S8 was almost two years anyway.

Different beast I know, but just thinking of when Spartacus got halted due to Andy Whitfield (RIP breh) getting diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Before going with the new actor they bought some time by creating pre-quel (which ended up being a great lead in to the first season.)

So many ways they could have done this if they wanted, they could easily delay the main story for years and we+hbo would gladly wait,they just wanted to move on to other projects so they decided to wrap it up. It is what it is.
Jon could have sat Bran down and said. Tell me everything you have seen. You then do a flashback and show us the entirety of Robert's Rebellion, stretch it out to a whole season. Rheger, Lianna, the trident, everything. Would have been fantastic. Id pay to see that. Then when the books finnally come out snap back to the main story and continue with the piffery. This way you still get to do a sort of spinoff and still keep the regular story going with the traditional slow pacing and nuance of the show we all fell in love with because you have guidance from the Author.

Read a theory earlier and we had a crazy ass discussion at work. Stayed after my shift just based on how crazy it was. Had family trees drawn up and everything. Even got past the fantasy realm into the real realm. Not sure how valid this may be but it sounds even crazy than it seems. Got me even more excited for this coming episode. Crazy how the whole history of these books and show is so detailed and intrically woven. George RR Martin is what I would call a "crazy genius".

Theory was that Tyrion is a Targearyan. The mad king who was best friends with Tywin, raped Tyrion mom and he's half targ half lannister. Tywins wife was his sister. That explains him getting close to a dragon earlier in the show. Plus him, Jon, and Dany all killed their mothers during childbirth. My coworker was even researching the significance of that. So theory says he's Dany half brother and rightful heir to the throne. They say theres a fourth dragon and he's gonna bring him out this coming epsiode. Could explain the preview when euron looks up in the sky in shock.

I'm sorry fam but Tyrion randomly pulling a dragon out his ass this late in the game would be legit awful, even by D&D standards. The Targaryen shyt def seem plausible though, I could see that being revealed at some point. Maybe he gets captured then *plot twist* Cersei walks in with a crossbow pointed at his noggin and reveals that's the real reason she's always hated him or some shyt.

Too many in demand actors with other projects to have a delay like that. Worked with Spartacus because it was a smaller cast of b/c level people. At the end of the day this is GRRM' s fault. Shouldn't have signed off on this until WOW was done.
