It's always funny hearing got fans complain about source material

Marvel fans been gave that up with alien asgards that all of a sudden reverted back to mythological roots.

Got watchers are snobs oh the book is so good, the show writing was so good up until season 4.

Yet here they are season 8 lol.

You can't really compare the two situations because the major beef with "GOT" isn't that they aren't using source material, or that they're changing things.

The beef is the writing has fell off horribly. And the show runners are rushing to end the series.

Obviously "Civil War" wasn't as in-depth or impressive as the comic series....honestly, neither was "Infinity War"....but both are good by any objective measurement. These last couple of "GOT" episodes haven't been good. That's it. If they were good nobody would care what they changed....they been changing shyt left and right for years, anyway.

I don't think the leak is real because they said no scripts were given out. They read everything on iPad and it would disappear after. I'm not reading spoilers because I want to be surprised like when Dany lost her dragon last week. In about 11 days we'll all know how it ends.

her dragons weren't grown, she still needed more shyt - dothraki, ships, etc. and backing ned would be a threat to dany, ned was not about seeing the targs come back into power...yet a targ is who varys was betting on...but yea

I’m saying if Varys wants what’s best of the realm the immediate choice would be backing Ned over Cersei. He doesn’t. Thus his best for the realm/people shtick is tired and played. Theon and Yara gave her her ships in Meereen. The dragons were full grown in Meereen. It’s not like Varys didn’t have an idea of who he wanted after Cersei and clan were disposed.

We all know season 7 and 8 aren't as good as the first 4 (and 5 lol)

But I'm just gonna enjoy the final ride.

D&D dropped the ball based on all these articles I've read that @hex posted.

I know people are disappointed with the ending...but... I would like to know how people wanted it to end when it's all said and done and I think that would be another good thread or discussion.

no clue HOW i want/wanted it to end, but i've said it a million times, two full seasons for season 7-8 would have made me happier. imagine episodes 1&2 being one long episode 8 in season 7, then 9 & 10 could've been the WW war (especially since they killed them in Winterfell). season 8 should've started with the funeral and banquet we just had in episode 4, that would've given them episodes 2-6 to set up the politics, make us connect to the characters again, and be attached to them for whatever deaths occur, 7-8/9 could be battles, 9/10 resolution/story swerve.


the thing that has stuck out to me this season is how between the layoff between seasons and rushed story, i really don't care about anyone anymore. jon and arya been my fave since season 1, and i'd only care if arya dies at this point. it's disappointing to have a series wrap where you've disconnected the audience from characters they previously spent years caring about, i've seen this sentiment on multiple boards, a lot of people don't care about the characters anymore.

I googled "is stannis alive in the book" and it says yes, he's alive. I didn't know the show was that far ahead of the books. I guess after them HBO checks cleared the fat man said fukk these books.

Thats why season 5 is so odd. Brans story in the books was done, so they didnt feel the need to continue with what George was planning to do, so season 6 they took control if his story. I believe at the end of book 5 jon is about to march to winterfell to fight for stannis but the last page was him being stabbed. Season 5 is when things changed huge between the books and show from what ive been told (only on book 3)Ramsey is married to Arya (but not really, just no one knows it isnt her except reek, ramsey) sansa and LF are still in the vale etc. seems like the only archs they are keeping post book are Jon and Dany.

But Qyburn built anti-air missiles in a medieval setting and no one even blinks an eye.

I don't like to pile on cause I still feel the shyt is enjoyable. And episode 3 was a classic, I don't give a fukk what none of yall say. Plotholes and all.....that shyt was epic. Plus I never really fukked with the white walkers anyway. They were always some cheesy cartoon type villains to me.

That being said, that dany and jon scene was so damn horrible. Jesus christ. The begging was a bad look for real. And I'm not even sure if it was the bad acting or the bad writing. Or both. But the bytch was begging jon like a little girl begging for some candy. They straight up ruined Dany's whole image in one scene ......I don't even know what they were thinking leaving that shot in. It felt like I was watching dawson's creek or some shyt

As bad as D&D's writing is, I doubt they expected to have to write so much plot for this story rather than adapting book material. It's not like HBO was going to bush them, the ratings are still piff.

All the weak seasons are the result of D&D having to write the plot(7 & 8) or just butchering the material(season 5 still woat besides hardhome). For season 6 he actually provided material for them to work with, told them the hodor origins, cersei blowing up the church etc.

Imagine this writing overextended to full, 10 episode seasons, I might've dropped it like I did Dexter.

These shortened seasons with super high production episodes are the main reason Im watching.

I don't understand why bran didn't send his birds to kings landing to scout. They would still have 2 dragons. Bran is worthless.. Why cant this nikka raise the dead like the night king or red witch.

It wasn't Ned over Ceresi though. It was really Stannis over the Lannisters. Perhaps Varys thought it would be easier to get rid of Ceresi and company later than it would be to get rid of Stannis.

I told people that years ago.

Dude was chilling with the stars of the show at award shows with not a single fukk given. Dude was writing blog posts on shows he's binging. He stopped giving a fukk about those books years ago.
