Kind of why I'm not on the hype train for this season. Need to see that they've tightened up the writing before completely buying in. First couple of episodes will tell the tale.

Same. Even the idea that seems to dominate this seasn, ie "the battle between good and evil," is the antitheses of what Martin has been writing. I'm sure there will be a battle between men and Others in ASOIAF...but it's not going to be the climax of the story, or settle how things play out. The show has basically become fan fiction at this point.

You can already tell what's going to happen: a lot of characters will die in the battle, there will be emotional music and various people crying etc etc and I'm sure there will be some last second turn that shifts everything towards the end. Maybe Jon and the Nights King will duel one on one, and he'll kill the Nights King at which point all the others/walkers will die like LOTR lol. Maybe Jon dies of a wound suffered or something, or maybe he dies saving Dany, or she dies saving him, etc.

rewatching all the seasons and I'm starting the last one now... I don't know if this is correct, but I think the line "poison is a women's weapon" plays out in the show

Jon Arryon was poisoned by Lyssa. Joffrey was poisoned by Lady Tyrell. All the men at the Frey's were poisoned by Arya.. all men every time too


Then the only times men tried to use poison... The guy tried to poison Danny with the wine.. he failed and was killed. And that old guy tried to poison the red woman, and he failed and was killed.... shyt even Oberyn tried it on the Mountain... was killed and failed


Does this hold up? Anybody remember any other poisonings?

Love season 6. So much piff and after 5 seasons of pure hell for the “good” characters they finally start getting some W’s

I'm with you on most of this, but that Bravos storyline with Arya was just plain bad. Plot armor in full effect after getting stabbed in the gut multiple times, falling into dirty sea water, only to survive with rest and milk of the poppy....then killing an assassin that's trained since she was young, despite only training for a few months. That, and the Tyrion/Daenerys stuff brought the season down a notch. Otherwise, I enjoyed season 6. Still not better than the first 4 seasons to me.
