It was always a stretch that EVERY episode was going to be upwards of 90 mins.

Also they’ve beaten the point into the ground through multiple interviews that they’ve known exactly how the show ends for years. There’s no room for “filler” or any huge earth shattering “twists” at this point. No new major characters to develop, no plotlines to flesh out. We’ve got the battle against the WW and Battle for the Iron Throne. Thats it. The runtimes are to get the characters to their respective endgames.

I think most showrunners nowadays are scared to get into “Lost” territory, where they go longer than they should have and end up with a mythology that gets ever more convoluted until its out of control.

Also we have to remember that they ran out of Book material three years ago. Both George RR Martin and the show runners have stated that when they started they had NO idea that they would outpace the books, so they might gave indeed went 1 or 2 more seasons with 2 more books worth of material, but since they don’t have that its better to cut out while their ahead rather than risk dragging shyt out.

Big battle director is on deck for episode 3 and 5. So I imagine the battle of Winterfell is gonna happen in ep 3 and in ep 5 shyt gonna spill into the south I don't know

Finale is directed by the showrunners so obviously they know exactly how they want it to end and they wanna see it through that vision.

I'm out until episode 1.

Last note... I don't feel this is rushed at all. They got plenty of time to end this and stick the landing
